No I wouldn’t have been happy with anything less than first in the league tbh, player injuries and fixtures pile ups are 2 of the drawbacks of success at this level but we were flying in the league when we fielded the youth team at Welling and I’m sure Cook could have found us something in the loan market to adequately cover for any potential injuries.
Don’t you think the fact we’ve now got 7 games with nothing to play for proves that the FA Trophy was there for the taking, the remainder of the season is just gonna be exhibition football now with the players minds on their summer holidays, I don’t begrudge them this btw, they’ve earned it but it just seems really strange that competitive football has ended in March.

It's all 'crystal ball' stuff.
In my eyes if you can lower the risk of key player being injured to keep them fresh and fit for league games, it's a no brainer sending the 3rd string to Welling

From the way Webb and some of the players have spoken i dont think they will rest up or experiment.

Not fair to rest, we can obviously effect relegation places AND KEEP OLDHAM OUT OF PLAY OFF CONTENTION !!!!

Whilst i dont expect them to its not down to us to help other clubs, we've done what we need to do so have earned the right to do what we want for the rest of the season. Its not for us to be responsible for beating someone to help another team out of relegation issues etc.

How do you take these B****Y email notifications off?

The unsubscribing function doesn’t work.

Do you mean by “unsubscribing” that the instructions below don’t work, or that even though you’ve followed them and the topic no longer shows as being “watched” that you’re still getting emails?

Oooh that’s what just happened at Halifax, we were putting one over on Oldham.

I trying to make up my mind what’s worse, Oldhams fans or Halifax’s pitch?

Well if Halifax win the play offs I hope we can play the away fixture in August, I’ve picked taters off better playing surfaces than that.

no need to risk anyone now carrying anything. football seasons are tough and next season can now be looked at so anyone not right should be given every chance to be readied for next season

Not sure I agree with any of that, however we should be doing it for ourselves primarily.

What we don't want is an anti-climax.

Though, as said, we've earned the right to field fringe players.

Given injuries to Colclough and Grigg we've little option, either.

So let's see what Curtis and Hobson can do. Let's see Berry get a more gametime. Let's give Boot a look-in.

In fact quite looking forward to it...

Got to say this must be the first season for many years when we have not had practically a second XI of injuries, which has obviously made a massive difference to our season.Feel for Will Grigg though,in with the chance of the golden boot until this stage of the season to now miss out (though Bonnyman had decided he had missed out last August 😄).To have had the golden boot won by any member of the team would have been an 'icing on the cake' moment, but it is obviously a big part of winning a league when so many different scorers have kept getting on the board.

I had a chance to briefly chat with Will yesterday when my lad was getting a photo with him before the game and he’s absolutely gutted; out for 6 weeeks and absolutely nothing for 2 weeks.

Apart from missing out on the golden boot though he can console himself with the fact that the job’s done and he’s played a massive part in achieving that.

If we have lost a couple of players or so for the run in after lifting the trophy then that is much better than doing so in mid-season.
