Oh but for the chance to sign a modern day Ernie Moss. Now there was a guy that was 100% proud to play for the shirt. Alas I think the mould was broken after that great man was made.

He was also proud to wear the shirts of several other clubs too, notably including Port Vale and Mansfield Town.

Well 22nd is his birthday, so if he ain't signed for us on that date (as I assume any deal with any club would be in place ready to sign after this length of time), that would be the end of it.

Still can't understand why he ain't played as a trialist anywhere.
If he did sign with us he'd have 2 friendlies before start of the season

I originally thought the 22nd was key, but it appears that it may be irrelevant. If a a player was 23, or under, on the 30th June, appears to be the rule. However, Solihull is still obliged to pay him up until 31st July whilst he's a free agent. So the 1st August could be the key date. Certainly for him, anyway.

Isn't your first sentence better suited to one of them trans debates over on the 'Personal' section?

But seriously, let's just say I'll be stunned if there's not some sorta 'hokey-cokey' by the end of this month...

Perhaps to do with the fact that free agents c ok continue to be paid by their club up until then? 🤣

Lets say the sqad is not complete and what we have in the dressing will be our lot for the season. For arguments sake lets say no more incomings and no outgoings. How will we do?

Football managers always use the term "We won't bring any players in unless they improve what we have". Have we done that? I think we have. Will Grigg and Tom Naylor alone will, I think, give us that extra little bit that we were lacking last season, I also like the look of Hobson as well, we have potentially a seeling commodity in him.

We finished 3rd last season, not comfortably, but we did and the additions we have will push us on that extra 10-20%.

We also don’t have wrexham and county in the division - two sides who were miles in front of everyone else
A new hope.

Peterborough, Stockport, Lincoln, Doncaster, Scarborough (while an EFL club) also.
No less a hero and fan favourite ever long here though.

I cannot believe that Cookie will not bring a genuine alternative to Grigg

It was obvious that was the difference between us and the top two and if anything happens to Grigg we do not have the firepower as it stands to maintain a promotion push

I am sure there will be another signing

We have 3 alternatives already though, who I imagine have a big draw on the budget. We need other clubs to take one or two of them off us. Preferably Akwasi and Danny.
Joe's receht record is one of being more available.

They are only paid if they have not been offered a new contract. That gives him time to find a new club.
If he has been offered a new contract and declined it he is not entitled to the additional months payment.

Please name someone who is a proven goalscorer that will be willing to come and sit on the bench watching Grigg.
I think PC will sign Curtis and if we can't shift Asante and Rowe, will settle with what we've got, with one eye on out of favour strikers should Grigg get injured and we need to dabble in the loan market.
I'm not condoning it as my favoured approach, it's what I suspect will happen.
