I don't think you will find many folk who think Salmons was underrated. He's in my best ever 11.

Released at end of last season by County. I believe he is now at Chelmsford City.

Then sold to York City for £4k,went on to play 245 games for them and scored 119 goals, their second highest scorer ever!
Went on to Blackpool and Carlisle after and averaged a goal every for 4 games.
Sadly passed away in 2003,aged 47 whilst undergoing a heart operation.
Rest in peace Big Man!

He was always only a part-time player, even when with us. He had some top-notch job, with Lloyds Insurance i seem to recall. Came to us in swap deal with Turnbull??
My second nominee - John Cooke.

Bryn Gunn was brilliant for most of his Town career, but I think most people appreciated him.....
Stuart Cash always struck me as decent, though didn't get much praise
Micky Allison was a decent keeper but went semi-pro again (after Micky Leonard regained form?)
Michael Simpkins was the most unfairly scapegoated (Robertson runs him close, though)
Stuart Howson was good, too- could head a ball as far as I've seen anyone head it. Pity he's had problems recently
Turnbull was a bit over-rated for me- scored spectacular goals but as a midfielder, his contribution was minimal- though he spent most of the time watching the ball flying over his head
Lancaster was dreadful for me- non-league donkey- but rightly remembered for Anfield. Set David James' career back a few years.

Heh.
I missed that one cos I couldn't get time off from the supermarket I worked at. The chap who refused it was named Chris Snell, but I don't think it was the roman numeral version or he'd have understood the importance of needing the time off.

Chris Beaumont became a post master in sheffield and last i heard was deperately fighting against its closure.
Steve Williams is also a postman, in and around the Mansfield Woodhouse area.
Beamont was playing at Osset Town, down the road, the last time I saw him, I think he went on to do some coaching there. that was a couple of years ago.

Loved that goal. I'm sure it wouldn't look as good on TV as I remember it. Recall going mental on a packed terrace....a meat pie came flying past in the melee!

Steve Gaughan was the player I was thinking of,too. He always reminded me of Lee Evans in his looks! He was another one of them players where the manager that signed him (Duncan) said he was a player he'd been after for ages, then hardly ever played him. I think it was about 16 games he played.

Because the lad gave heart and soul for us. A legend in that respect, but I doubt we ever under-estimated him.
Dave Moss was semi-pro throughout his time because he enjoyed as lucrative career as an insurance agent. After finishing as a player at Swansea in 02-3 he stayed down that way and played Welsh League rubbish before joining the youth coaching set-up at Swansea in 2005. I think he moved on when Martinez took over, but I'm not sure as to where.
We had two semi-pros in our regular side for the 1994-5 promotion season. Tom Curtis, still a student then, was the other.
Posties - have we added Dave Windridge?

Was Rob Edwards rated? If not I nominate him too, super left back who could also play in midfield.
I also nominate Tony Carss not given a chance by Duncan, released by Law he finished up being decent for Huddersfield.
