Groundhog day today at the County Ground

We finished on 281 all out then had Northnts 171-8 before letting them finish 291-9

The number of times we had sides on the ropes last season and then let them off the hook during a match were several I recall

Looks like nothing has changed in that respect

Nathan Buck who has moved to Northants from Leicestershire finished with his career best bowling figures and then not out with his highest score with the bat

A worry for Derbys is that Shiv Thakor fell akwardly whilest bowling and limped off the ground with it looks a bad ankle injury

I have also been warmer whilest watching cricket lol
g
There were depressing similarities with previous years in the way things started to drift but I thought For most part there was some renewed purpose from the bowling lineup. Mendis much to my surprise looked ok but we need to keep the young lad fit. Not sure about the impact of losing Thakor but it didn't look good

Anyone recall Richard Sladdin? He's been a very naughty boy. Best to google
Derbyshire is Derbyshire
Yorkshire is Yorkshire

Never the twain shall meet.

After some joke and I mean joke bowling in the morning to set up the agreed target it was a cracking afternoons cricket today

Northants reached their target of 325 off 65 overs in the last over with 7 wkts down Richard Levi out for a very rapid 99 which gave Detbyshire hope of forcing a victory but Northants edged home against the spin of Smitt and Mendis

The joke bowling in the morning session helped to create a 333 first wicket partnership between Godleman and Rees which is a record for Derbyshire against any county beating 322 set back in 1929 against Essex

An insult to a proper record.

Ten bowlers used. Even the wicket keeper had a few overs didn't he? What happened to the 11th bowler, he must be really crap

At least their lot had proper bowlers bowling at them, so much for contrived finishes

That was Richard Levi who was fielding near our group and when I asked him if he was going to have a bowl he just laughed and said no way

He also said that when he came out to bat he would be having a go and he certainly lived up to his word scoring 99 off something like 70 balls

Fair play to him and he has gone up in my estimation

Beat me to it, turning cricket into a complete mockery.

Where's our John Wright's and Peter Kirsten's ?

Like a lot of other sports, the powers that be are destroying cricket.

People will not agree with me but I think the crash bang wallop cricket is having an effect on four day cricket.

Levi likes to have a chat with the crowd

I remember him asking the Derbyshire fans two years ago if Godelman was mad

We have just let Kent go from 142 for 7 in tneir second innings to 308 all out meaning that Derbyshire only
need 409 to win now

The good news is that we have a day and three quarters to get them lol

Same old same old I am afraid

Back to normal Derbyshire had Kent on the rack twice and twice they have let them off the hook. Tail enders dominating again just like against Northants.

I know it looks like same old same old........

But the fielding is a billion times better than the last few seasons , the attitude is first class and we will win a couple of games this season and get better and better.

Seen more improvement this season than in the last haf a dozen

I was hoping for something different in the cricket this time
