Sorry, but that?s a load of hog wash. Tactics are the structure by which the team plays, the team has to successfully deploy those tactics which means it?s reliant upon the skills and decisions of the players on the pitch for 90 minutes. The argument here is a simple one, that we are more likely to face a better standard of opposition in league two than we were in the National League, both defensively and offensively. Therefore, without any change, it is likely that our goals scored will be reduced and our goals conceded increased- with hopefully obvious implications. Whilst we?ve changed potentially some of the attacking options in the team, we have not changed any of the defensive options.

This isn?t something new, the management know that we need to improve our defence,, and have stated this in interviews, so I?m not sure why people are getting a little bit upset when this is pointed out. After all, this discussion was sparked by somebody stating that the management team didn?t know what they were doing..

Absolutely correct
ITS NOT THE WINNING,ITS THE TAKING APART

Could be wrong but fairly sure they have also stated in the interview that they know they cant be as open in how they play in League 2 compared to the just out score teams approach in the NL. Improving the defence is not just a case of adding new players but can be done by changing tactically how we play to give the centre backs more protection both from the full backs sitting in a bit more and the central midfielders giving them more cover in front.

Correct. Those suggesting we need virtually an entirely new defence are missing the point that PC is a terrific manager who is capable of adapting his tactics if necessary. Yes, in most NL games we played on the front foot, pressing high, because our manager knew that our firepower up front could more than compensate for the goals we conceded by being caught on the break. He didn't play like that in our FA Cup matches against better opposition; we held our defensive shape more, didn't press as high, and achieved excellent results v Orient and Portsmouth, and very nearly pulled off a big shock against Watford. PC is a clever manager who can adapt to different situations; of course he will seek to strengthen his squad in all areas going up a league, but he will also adjust his tactics to combat whichever opponent he is facing.

The evidence is that we improved both our attack and defence last year simply by playing Jones in CM, which kinda disproves your theory.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on
