I think that's obvious even to a blind man!!! 2 Strikers & a Left back!

yep pretty obvious! armand and doyle are staying so 2 strikers to go with them, and left back if smith isnt offered new deal which is up for debate!

all other positions seemed covered, maybe another central midfielder for cover?

Yes an attacking one like Franck Moussa would be nice :)

Rumour has it next seasons budget will be the same as this years, even if we do go up. PC was upset.

Dave Allen has stated Cook would get "a bit more money" for L1

I would definitely make offers to O'Shea, Hird & Smith who are all good enough to play in league one. Whilst not being chosen has Smith actually been available as much as, or more than,Talbot this season?

Of the others it depends how far Cook etc thinks they have come compared to how far they can go.

For instance, Brown looked competent at CB when filling in but could he perform for longer in a higher league?

Devitt had a good game against York but has not even approached holding a place down in league two other than at Morecambe - will he really challenge for starts in league one?

Humphreys could just be the man, if willing, to lead the reserve team youngsters?

Depending on who stays and who goes our main priorities should be specialist right and left backs along with a CF who has the attributes to play the lone striker role.

I want to see Jay here next season and I think Hird on a reduced wage would be good back up. I'll be sorry to see Ricco go but its not worked here. Broadhead is getting useful experience in non league and I'd give him another season. As for the rest I think PC already has his targets for L1 football and he'll have to drastically reduce the wage bill first. Hazel has failed to impress in England and he'll end up in the Conference like Adam Smith, which is a real pity.

Broadhead has already got another season, whilst Hazel can't even get in the squad in a club two divisions below the conference, so it's difficult to see him getting anything higher, I expect him to join the likes of Worksop at best next season

Port Vale have just sacked a good one. He might have to work on his temperament a bit though. I have to say, Sam Morsy made the best decision of his life getting away from Adams.

Anyone who thinks Smith will be here next season is kidding themselves.

Hird? I like him; never let us down and proven himself a top professional. I'd definitely make an offer, but it's all about how much and how many games we can put on the table.

O'Shea? The question is can Cook replace him with someone more consistent.

A new hope.

Are these sources reliable?

I wouldn't be surprised in some way as attendances won't be as DA expected given our league position

Out of contract
Smith Yes (As long as he's sorted his head out).
Hird Yes (Quality is there for all to see).
Togwell No ( Cook won't use him).
O'shea No ( Not consistent enough).
Richards No ( Not under Cook's preferred method of play).
Devitt Yes ( Worth a punt for a further season only,on a small salary).
Brown No (Probably be a decent shout for a lower league 2 squad member).
Humphreys Yes (Probably not a first choice next season ,but well worth it for his experience/influence on and off the pitch).
Broadhead? Yes (Really think there's something there).
Hazel? No ( Never really reached the required standard).

If Cook wants to offer him 2 years so be it. If not then O'Shea may get a 2 year deal somewhere else, but probably not in L1

I like JO, but I'm not sure he's done enough to secure a new deal.

Unless Paul Cook intends on starting him in 30+ games next season, then JO's a waste of a wage here.

The clue was given by DA at the AGM, when he said that they were changing the way in which the budget was set, basing it on income from the turnstiles, rather than turnstiles, sponsorship, conference & banqueting, etc.

I'm sure I read somewhere that if we go up the budget will be based on a 7000 average attendance next season?

It will take some 5 star wheeler-dealing this summer to hold our own in L1 without increasing investment imo.

Not sure if their contracts are up at the end of the season, but if they are I would love to see Craig and Kevin Davies here next season but wages would probably be an issue
I will keep shopping at tescos to see if they can be seen!

Surely DA wouldn't make the same mistake again?

To not increase our wage budget threshold would be complete stupidity, surely. The reason we went down last time was because we weren't willing to pay enough until it was too late. I would be absolutely gutted if we spurned yet another golden opportunity to compete properly in the league above yet again.

The only bright spot is that we can get rid of four very high earners - just how high is a matter for speculation, but Hird, Richards, Togwell and Smith won't be on peanuts, that's for sure.
Getting rid of those four will give PC a bit of elbow room, but he'll have to be very clever about who he brings in to make us competitive.
Fortunately he's been more than clever enough so far.

He's free and available. Not a bad shout.

Though reading the Vale forum they seem glad to be shut of him.

If these rumours are anywhere near correct and DA has had a sudden change in heart, perhaps it signifies that he is looking foe the exit door

Be interesting to see next years accounts after the confusion over the wage cap earlier this season
