As if tickets weren't hard enough to get, those poor spectators must be fuming.

its easier to disqualify 8 'unknown' badmington players than it was to throw west germany out.
the cynical side of football at its worst.

Disgusting decision but the again Olympic boxing judging as always been a farce. Btw the GB heavy weight was very fortunate IMHO to be given a 1 pt victory over the Cuban. Could very easily been a 2 or 3 pt verdict the other way. I think the commentators felt similarly but were diplomatic !

Agreed the boxing judging and refereeing is absurd. Felt really sorry for the Iranian and the Cuban as that referee was beyond pathetic. If that was a British boxer on the end of that decision The Sun would have hunted him down.

What I mean is sports that are judged. For instance, the 100m will be won by the fastest sprinter, the javelin will be won by the person who can throw it the farthest, man versus man (or woman v woman) sports where judges decide who wins grates on me a little when it comes to the Olympics. I do love watching the sports but the Olympics for me is all about athlete v athlete.
A good example where judges influence the outcome is the men's gymnastics final, the judges made a decision, then were influenced to change their minds thereby promoting the Japanese from 4th to 2nd. In the 800mtrs freestyle you win or you don't simple as.

hasn't your point been somewhat undone by the badminton decision ?
