I wonder if it was a 'knock on' from the instigated sock farce created by the ref. It,s pettiness would have obviously p..sed Quigs(it would anyone) off and I wonder if Quigs followed it up with a few sarky comments pushing the refs buttons who appeared to have different tolerance levels for verbals as opposed assault.

That raises a good point, what the hell was that while sock debacle about? What did the ref want him to do in the first place?
I don’t know if Quigs was breaching any rules but it seemed to me that the red went to him first wanting him to do something but I couldn’t work out what the issue was? 🤷🏼‍♂️
Also couldn’t really work out what the level of attention was about compared to their number 7 who pretty much had his socks round his ankles and I couldn’t see how he could fit shin pads in there.
If you do what you always do, you'll get what you always get.

In our day pal,if a player cut the back out his socks or cut the bottoms off he would get chinned before he left the dressing room

I think Quigley had done what a lot do these days where they wear the non slip socks on their feet in their boots then cut the bottom off the blue normal club socks to wear over the top to just above the boot. Presumably the ref didnt like the amount of white on show as Quigley appeared to just put blue tape over to hide it.

Can’t see the rules actually say that. Nor that Quigley broke any.
Quote
CELEBRATION OF A GOAL

Players can celebrate when a goal is scored, but the celebration must not be excessive; choreographed celebrations are not encouraged and must not cause excessive time-wasting.

Leaving the field of play to celebrate a goal is not a cautionable offence but players should return as soon as possible.

A player must be cautioned, even if the goal is disallowed, for:
climbing onto a perimeter fence and/or approaching the spectators in a manner which causes safety and/or security issues
gesturing or acting in a provocative, derisory or inflammatory way
covering the head or face with a mask or other similar item
removing the shirt or covering the head with the shirt

climbing onto a perimeter fence and/or approaching the spectators in a manner which causes safety and/or security issues
This is why then as I mentioned safety issues fans pushing to get to the players and possibility of someone falling / getting squashed and getting hurt because of it

Just as James Norwood did when he "scored" against us for Oldham?
I didn't see any punishment dished out to him for doing just that!

Don't forget, Oldham are ex premier league, so they'll be looked on as the big boys of the division, and should be immune from any such penalties 😆.

You mean in the 96” min when the ref couldn’t even play the remaining minute of the game and absolutely 5 hite his pants?

That's the one mate but surely he could have cautioned him in the tunnel afterwards for it?

With everything that when off I’m sure that was the last thing on his mind to be fair
He didn’t even consult the lino re the possibility of goal being offside

Yeah yeah.
Now look at Jack Clarkes celebration of his Sunderland ‘walk in goal’ v Blackburn on Wednesday.
No booking- as there rarely is. Just because the perimeter is further away at a higher level shouldn’t make any difference.

Ridiculous comments on Quigley, he misses that one and he’s mocked again

Scores and he’s a new confident lethal finisher

He’s the same player, goes well for him last 10 when teams are hanging on and there’s panic in the defence

I wouldn’t want him anywhere near the starting 11

You're being a bit silly about his scoring record this time out, which for minutes played is excellent. The criticism of him last term was that he could do most things to an adequate level but couldn't take chances, which made him a bit useless as the striker. Now he's taking his chances and looking good generally.
You make an interesting point about him starting though. He's undeniably scored his goals against tired legs. I think he'll continue his run of form if he gets a start, but it remains to be seen. No doubt Cookie will try him out in a less important game, unless Griggs gets injured first.

He's scored more than once and from seeing him play this season, it chalk and cheese from the Quigley from last season

You need to pull your head out your bottom

Also, much greater squashing probability if Norwood is involved.
These go to eleven.

Quigley started last season very well but by the end of the season was an ineffective shell of his former self.
This season he’s been assigned the role of super sub and done it very well. If we go a bit longer, he’s been holding it up well. If we get crosses into the box, he’s a threat. I liked his attitude when interviewed after the Halifax match, which suggested he was happy to play his part in a successful side.
These go to eleven.

That was right in front of me as I was there and there was no issue at all. More of an issue that wasn’t worthy of a booking was blackburns equaliser first half scored in front of the away end and the scorer decided to taunt the away fans for no reason at all other than he’d scored…it was very strange and same as when king got booked for it at home to Grimsby a couple of seasons ago.
