Not sure if these have been mentioned, but Stanfree Farm Shop, (Low Road, Stanfree) have lovely meat and pies. Some fresh, some frozen.
Also Lucy's Fine Meats, Hirsegead Lane, Bolsover (opposite the Bolsover School), has really nice meat although it is mostly frozen so better if your shopping in advance and not on the day you want to cook it.

Would it be any different at a local butcher?

A huge number of local butchers source meat from the wholesale markets, so no unless a local abattoir is the source
A new hope.

Nope, they've been too busy signing post Brexit deals with the Aussis allowing poorly reared, hormone injected meat into the UK.

Which has left our farmers furious.

But hey, I think we all know animal welfare was the last thing on the Farage fanboy's agenda...

Didn’t take long to turn a thread about recommending butchers turn into one about politics.

You’ve done well. It gives the green light for the “usual suspects” to get involved.

Why thank you, BTW it was S&D who started the politics thing by raising the government wringing their hands over no legislation to have proper labelling that's taken 9 years (bearing in mind they've been in power for 13 years) after the report about not having proper labelling.

I remember seeing a trailer around 12 years ago that used to park in Staveley on Sundays, he displayed a Union Flag and had a sign specifically stating ‘No Halal Meat Sold Here’, I don’t know if he’s still around.

You’re more likely to get sold halal in a supermarket than in a local butchers, I use Manor Farm in Shirland and the farm shop in Calow, it’s highly unlikely it’s gonna be halal if it’s locally sourced although I’ve never actually asked.

PS, you should all be supporting your local butchers and local farms anyway. Supermarket meats always been inferior quality, buy butchers sausages and locally sourced products and support your local economy.
Let me in!
