A morning for genuine Qs. What are your views (if it’s possible to have such a wide view) on the Jews as a race? I’m reading more and more about their history, right back to biblical times and am fascinated and confused in equal measure.

I appreciate that’s a wide ranging question and it’s not meant to be provocative or controversial.

Are you kidding? How can such a mad question not be provocative or controversial?

You and me both. I remember when he played for Rotherham and he ended up playing in goal against us. Got pelted with coins from the kop water off a ducks back for Nicky. Will always be hero after the 5-2 semi final thrashing of the yellow Bunkum.

Well. I was in the Kop that day and I don't remember anything being thrown at Nicky Law. When he came out for the second half he got a round of applause which he acknowledged with a cheerful smile and a wave, which he would not have done if he were being pelted with coins, or with anything else.

To be honest I don't remember any player, from any team, having a load of coins chucked at him, probably because it never happened.

I’ve no idea what being born and growing up in Chesterfied or you mum still living the has to do with an attempt to paint you as a hypercrite. It was to do with you going an opinion on the hate speech bill up there, unless you now live in Scotland of course? And if you do then obviously it impacts you but that doesn’t mean I can’t have an opinion on it!
I’ve no fear whatsoever what people want to view my opinions as or have of me, or what you feel my views show up for what you think it is. I just find it hypercritical to accuse me of trolling and suggesting I mind my own business re Scotland when you don’t do the same. For what it’s worth I obviously did read the whole post but found it to be the usual left wing rhetoric when presented with an alternative view. And regarding learning to live in peace, left wing rhetoric simply won’t allow it or want it. They crave friction by the way they throw about the usual tired and overused accusations with anyone who disagree, you did the same in your very first sentence.
There’s some high horse riders about on here for sure!

Hang on a second. You accuse me of spouting the usual left wing rhetoric and then tell me that living in peace (which is what I called for in the trans "debate") is impossible because the left won't allow it. So am I a leftie or am I not? And I ask again, what's your objection - if you have one - to banning hate speech aimed at stirring up hatred of groups and individuals over things that aren't their fault, like their colour or sexuality? I'm not holding my breath that you'll respond to the challenge, mind.

Had you honestly read my previous post, you'd be aware that I voted in the last Scottish General Election, which I was able to do because I lived there. The Scottish government, therefore, was representing me, especially since I voted both SNP and Green.

As the Earl of Chesterfield says, Humza brought about his own downfall by unilaterally sacking Partick Harvie and Lorna Slater from the government. Having said that, the same media outlets that were shouting for him to sack the Greens immediately went for the jugular when he did precisely what they had been urging him to do. Alex Salmond's mob - in the main- couldn't give two hoots about the gender bill; they simply oppose, as a reflex action, anything proposed by the SNP. Salmond is, by his own admission "no angel." His own barrister called him a sexist and another word - too rude to be allowed on Bob's Board - that has 8 letters and begins with A. While he was acquitted on all but one of the charges of sexual assault brought against him, the other resulted in a "not proven" verdict, which is understood by Scots to mean "we think you did it but it's not been proved, so go away and don't do it again." In short, the suggestion that he is a supporter of women's rights is baloney. Like his bitter opponent but very similarly bumptious character George Galloway, he spent his time in the wilderness hosting a show on the propaganda channel Russia Today, and we all know what a haven for human rights Putin's Russia is, don't we?

Deflecting all opposition to your own - forthrightly expressed - opinions by calling it left wing bias is a cop-out, by the way. Personally, I'm more interested in ethics than politics, and I find your attitude ethically reprehensible, not because I'm a Stalinist or a fan of Pol Pot but because your natural instinct seems to be to attack anybody who shows compassion for minorities. It would be nice if you expressed a kind word for somebody every now and then; I really wish you would.

Regarding your last paragraph, I skipped though the other parts, the vast majority of posts by people in this section, whether Left political view or a Right political view are opinions on subjects that has very little effect on folks day to day lives but we can still voice an opinion on it, or would you like that banning as well. And as for trolling and not “minding your own buisness” I could argue that’s what you’ve just done!

No. You didn't read the rest of my post because you're scared that your own confirmation bias will be shown up for what it is.

I was born and grew up in Chesterfield, and my mum still lives there, so your feeble attempt to paint me as a hypocrite falls at the first fence. Since you ask, I don't think you or anybody else should be banned from expressing opinions on matters you know little or nothing about; what I do think should be banned is spreading deliberate lies and propaganda and whipping up hatred against people over things that are in no way their fault - like their colour or sexuality. Is that a problem for you? If so, why?

    Why has it?
What’s been posted that’s not a genuine opinion of how this the law is so hard to enforce and has so many holes in it?
Can you give me three reasons why?
The link to the initial video sums it up perfectly, have u watched it and seen how ridiculous the law is and easy to abuse? Thankfully I’ll side with JKR and Sharon Davies and not the 97% of bigots who made spurious reports that weren't deemed “hate speech”.
A genuine debate on a ludicrous law and some posters just can’t, well debate, and resort to name calling! Pathetic.

The 97% of bigots were - as it turns out - largely opponents of the law, deliberately making daft accusations in order to waste police time and make the whole thing unworkable. The rate of reports had fallen by 74% by the second week of April.

It's not about name calling; the law might need a bit of tinkering but it's actually a good, sensible one designed to protect innocent people from bullies. "Freedom of speech" is no more a human right than "freedom of action". If A breaks in and sets B's house on fire out of hatred then that's illegal, but the culture warriors of the right think it should be entirely legal to encourage A to do so, or to create an environment in which A thinks his/her action is justified.

As usual, the whole thing has turned into a trans/anti-trans argument, as if this is the only subject worth debating. I see no reason why both sides shouldn't just stop insulting and threatening each other & learn to live together in peace.

I also see no reason why people living outside Scotland can't manage to mind their own business. The SNP/Green alliance (RIP) was democratically elected by Scottish voters - including me - and isn't able to make laws that affect the whole of the UK. What happens at Holyrood has no impact on the people of Chesterfield at all. Carry on trolling, if that's your bag; it's perfectly legal in Derbyshire.
