Accrington have a capacity of 5000, but struggle to get more than 1500 fans to watch them, which is a pathetic amount to compete at league level. Darlington are still suffering as they are a ground with a 25,000 capacity which is way too big for their needs. We have an ancient ground that used to fit a lot more fans than the 8,000 it currently is allowed to hold, in a higher division or on a special occasion we can fill our current ground, but those things don't happen very often thesedays, we have a 5 year plan to get into the championship though and an 8,000 capacity isn't going to be enough against the likes of Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday etc.

Also currently we have limited funds to strengthen as most of our income is through limited matchday revenue, mainly gate receipts. A new stadium will offer the chance to gain income 7 days a week, and will generate more revenue on matchdays through better facilities.

To compete and succeed at a higher level than league two in future years we need to move to a better ground, our current home isn't big enough for modern day footballing needs.

We are far better than the likes of Darlington, and Accrington, one has ongoing financial issues from a previous chairmans greed and cloud cuckoo land thinking, and the other is struggling to adapt to league football as it has a very poor fanbase.

We're not moving to a new stadium cos it looks nice and our current ground needs a repaint, it's because in the long run it will be better financially as we will get more revenue from the new place. If we stay at saltergate we will only continue to be a league two club, or a league one club that struggles to compete with the rest of the division due to limited income at best.

Also regarding MK Dons what about the new stadium they have recently moved to that has been used to stage youth internationals, and their wealthy chairman that has paid for the stadium and transformed the club from a lowly club in london without it's own home to a club miles away in a city without a football club. They have invested money in the team, as have peterborough who have signed promising players from non league for 6 figure sums.

Playing in the second tier at the time.
A new hope.

Although he was involved with the relocation project back in 2002, he didn't actually become their owner though until 2004 after they'd been relegated to the third tier, and his wealth only really started to make a difference upon him building their new 22,000 stadium with expansion for 45,000 when required and allowing money to be spent on bringing quality in, by which time they were playing in the 4th tier, so he's still helped transform then from a London club with no ground headed for the lower leagues. Without his input their future looked very bleak.

All very different now mate, when the main stand is finished it will be quite an imposing set up - mainly Rugby League now following the football clubs demise.
God I hate this league.
