Appreciate there is the In Memoriam section, for Spireites who have passed but I thought this deserves to be on the main page, at least for a while.

Fully agree.
It's worth remembering that for all his significant support during the Club's darkest hours, John never asked for any boardroom position or financial rewards. He simply told the then 'powers that be' to pay him back as and when they could.
I'd also add that he was a totally top bloke...

I’ll break my self imposed ban from posting on here to say what a top bloke John was.
The 92 ground tour in 2001 with John and 6 others was absolutely mental.

I'd all but wiped (inappropriate word usage) that from my mind. It was even more sh%t than the match at Grim Grimsby Town later that day and that was very, very sh%t!
We were all very drunk, what a day (and night).
