Completely unfair on Colleen Rooney, she and Rooney are childhood sweethearts having grown up together. The few times I've seen them on TV documentaries etc they come across as a very grounded couple. Also I think Rooney is very fond of a severely disabled family member on Colleens side of the family and they provide support. Obviously they enjoy the trappings of fame and great wealth, but who wouldn't in their financial position?, and the transgression of Rooney with that prostitute many years ago was a stupid mistake whilst growing up.
Bloomin heck, have I just spoken up for Wayne Rooney?

Think it was her sister and she died back in 2013 :-

You were right though- he is a superb example of a family man.
He had an indiscretion at what 18?

Not exactly a Ched Evans moment was it?

Not at all, just a mistake from someone being thrust into the limelight and all its trappings a bit to early. I think ultimately its probably the Move to Man Utd and the guidance of Fergusson that shaped him into who he is now.

It's good to see positive feedback about Wayne. Provided he doesn't do anything to spoil it from now until retirement.. Surely he has to go down as England's most successful footballer ever? Record goal scorer for the national team. By retirement he'll be Manchester Uniteds record goal scorer and whilst I can't see him reading the 260 of Shearer, he'll not be too far off with a much better trophy cabinet!

I'm as anti Man Utd as they come too. But he's on hell of a football player. Form is temporary, class permanent and all that! Even the Everton fans speak highly of him these days!

Contract terminated at Sunderland and also dropped from his sponsorship deal with adidas.

He has carried on playing for Sunderland, even scoring last week. Strong similarities between Ched Evans being able to still play and score (taking 6 points from us in the relegation season).

Sunderland have done the right thing now he's admit some guilt, regarding the odious Evans, the basis of British law is innocent until proven guilty, so I suppose you have to accept Sheff Us initial decision to play him.

By all accounts he'd protested innocence throughout prior to now and in reality innocent until proven otherwise so Sunderland allowed him to continue playing after initially suspending him I think. I don't think Sunderland were aware he was going to plead guilty at any point.

Apparently there was some discussions yesterday between lawyers before the court appearance when he decided, or maybe advised, to change his plea. I suppose further evidence as come to light or right until the end he hoped the girl would avoid a trial. Either way you wouldn't expect him to offer a guilty plea unless the guilt was there.

I bet if Sam Allardyce could get hold of him they won't need the court case, he'd rip his balls off!!!! Stitched him up right now to sort his squad out to try and avoid relegation, he's one player short for his 25 now and he can't add any over 23yo players to it!

Technically three players short as they only named 23 of the 25. That said they can sign free agents...been talk of ex Arsenal full back Eboue signing as he's been training there recently.

Weird how he could've done this on another arbitrary mass of land somewhere on this planet such as the land labelled "Austria", "Germany", "Portugal" and "Italy" (14 years old) or "France", "Czech Republic", "Denmark" and "Greece" (15 years old) and nobody would've taken a second glance isn't it.

Presumably because it's not against the law. People can get stoned to death in some countries but it wouldn't make it right on town market.
