Absolutely gutted for Barnet and football in general!
Alty are our only hope now …. Don’t want Solihull or Bromley anywhere near the EFL 😂

In fairness to Solihull they are the only team to have to play 3 times in the playoffs to try to get to the EFL and they’ve performed well in 2 of those games so far.

None of the 3 teams left have ever been in the FL before either. Of those, I would think Solihull might have to spend some money on ground improvements whilst Bromley will have to rip up their plastic. Wembley might suit Altrincham’s style but they have to perform on that pitch tomorrow that Bromley will have to rip up if they are the ultimate victors - that, I think, sums up the absurdity of the advantage Bromley have.

Conn Clarke apparently as got another year left at Altrincham according to my mate who is a Alty fan and he also says he's heading for Stockport if he goes.

Is it not a little premature to be discussing whether or not Conn-Clarke moves on when his present club remain in the play-offs?

If Altrincham actually get promoted then it could throw a different light on things and put them in a stronger position to retain his services.

However, should they fail to win the playoffs then it is quite possible that the player could start pushing for a move whilst his stock remains high.

Yeah, doesn't float my boat, but what do I know ? I thought we were chasing the lad from Gatehead, loan player from derby Was his name Brown ? Looks a better prospect.

Brown, for me, fits into our squad as an U21 player and is a different type of striker to the other two on our books. Derby County haven’t done us many favours in recent years but a season long loan could be good for all 3 parties concerned.

The fact that Thomson-Sommers is apparently left-sided could mean he would complement any one of our defensive midfielders as they all seem to prefer the right side. He’s young legs and could add some mobility in that department. He is over 21 though and would, as such, be included in the squad of 22. I do wonder if we might look for a bit more experience in this key position rather than a back-up player.

However, I know nowt about Drummond but can’t say I’m sold on this one. It’s a big step up and for an unproven player who would form part of our squad of 22.

Another endearing slant on this is that I think (from Youtube) that CC very much looks up to Will Grigg.

I think he must do because he ain’t much taller than our own Armando Dobra.

Anyway, I agree, in the Fyfield podcast I saw some time ago he was very appreciative of Will Grigg.

A very good point. Who does Cook drop to accommodate Conn Clarke?
We have an embarrassment of riches going forward, it's the defensive side if thinks which needs addressing

Does anybody actually get dropped in what is now a squad game with players rotating both during games and from match to match?

Then, of course, this “who do we drop”” argument falls by the wayside when one or two of the “who” get injured, suspended, or lose form.

Thanks for talking about the team and the football. It seems to be the last thing most of them are interested in, but 'twas ever thus.
Look forward to some more interesting discussions it the mods get a bit more selective about relevance in threads.
