Don't underestimate his contribution to saving CFC in 2001, giving his services free for a sportsmans dinner at the Winding Wheel which raised £7000

This.
Infact the Charltons had strong links to Town through relatives here. Always loved his straightforward honesty, too.
A giant on so many levels.

A man who wore his heart
On his sleeve
No airs or graces
Just got on with it
Not scared to open his mouth either
RIP

Only him would dare to say he had a little black book.
I remember watching that and thinking oh dear, that's going to get him in bother and it did.

Correct. Bobby often recounted coming to Saltergate to watch his uncles Stan and George Millburn play for us.

RIP Big Jack a more larger than life character imo than his more famous brother Bobby
Don't forget to add Trevor Cherry as well to the recently departed although he was a slightly later addition to that Leeds squad

I remember towards the end of that season the Owls either losing or drawing a local Derby at Ramall Lane which was on match of the day and as Big Jack was being interviewed after the match his first comment was how have Chesterfield gone on because I think he realised we were the biggest rivals to a promotion spot
from memory I think it was the day we lost 2-0 at millwall so you could tell he was very pleased to hear that result

He also said during the final weeks of the season something along the lines of ‘with our support and crowds, compared to Chesterfield’s, we should be promoted rather than them’. He’d soon learned the local lingo.
