Was told the sad news this morning that Mick Bamford a West Stand regular and massive Town fan sadly lost his battle with cancer late last night. Mick was a true Spireite and also had a love for Manchester United , he was a great friend of mine and to many others. He will be greatly missed. Condolences to his wife Linda and the rest of the family. Rest in peace Mick and thankyou for being a great and loyal friend I will miss our chats in general and of course about football! God bless you💙

Can't say much tonight Mick, i'm gutted, no one could have wished for a best mate as good as you have been for 50 odd years. Your at peace now having struggled with kidney and brain cancer. You never gave up over the past few years. Such a brave bloke who loved and cared for Linda (his life), Ben and Chelsea, even when he was struggling. God Bless and Comfort the whole Family. Rest in peace Mick.

He was my son's teaching assistant at college, we would always make a point of having a chat with him. Thoroughly lovely bloke. So sad to hear about his passing. Rest in peace Mick.

First got to know Mick queueing up for the Green ‘Un on Derby Road.

Known Mick for many years, a massive Spireite, a regular at town games both home and away also visits to OT.

Was told that he'd passed away this morning in Ashgate Hospice after losing his battle.

Thoughts and condolences to Linda and the family along with his regular group in the West Stand.

RIP Mick, finally at peace & State 11

Just a shame Mick won't be able to see his beloved Spireites back in the football league next season although I bet he'll be watching from above cheering them on ⚽️🔵⚪️

Absolutely heartbroken.
Met Mick when we both started at William Rhodes 57 years ago.
We became best friends and remained so forever.
You couldn't wish to meet a more decent person.
There's not going to be much sleep tonight/
RIP my good friend, no more pain.
My thoughts are with all your family and friends.
See you in blue heaven.
Nigel.

Terrible news.

I’ve sat a couple of seats down from Mick since we moved to this stadium and known him almost 30 years. A top top bloke who always had time to chat, he always made a point of talking to my kids when at the game. I look back to earlier last year when he grabbed me by the arm and told me life is short and make the most of it. There were probably 7000 people in the stadium that day but he chose to share that private moment with me. Those words got me then and they are definitely getting me now :-( RIP Mick and love to your family and friends xxx

I met Mick when we joined Derbyshire Police on the same day 32 years ago. Went through training with him and bonded over our mutual love of the Spireites. So sad to hear of his passing. Lovely bloke, another good un taken far too young.

Recognise him from years supporting us home and away but didn’t know the bloke.
Sympathy to all family and friends.

We were at Halifax for the play off win we had a great night. I am on the other side of the photo he had his hand on my shoulder. In latter months he battled and struggled to get to his seat behind Cooky's dug out, but he made it. He never gave up. God Bless Him. Boy I will miss him.
