Hi,

I'm the pre-match reporter for the Port Vale Fans Forum One Vale Fan.

Part of my role is to contact fans of our forthcoming opponents to ask them a few questions and gain their views on the upcoming fixture between our sides in order to produce a report which we release on the site a couple of days prior to the game.

I wondered if one or more of you (up to a maximum of 3 or 4) have a few minutes and would be prepared to share a few views if you would kindly offer your feelings on the game by answering the following few questions;

1. Tell us a bit about yourself & history as a fan?
2. How do you expect your team to do this season (including a forecast for a positional finish for the entire season)?
3. Who should we watch out for (one or more danger player/s)?
4. What are your thoughts on your manager and his signings this season?
5. What are your thoughts on your board & off field club activities?
6. Which one Vale player would you take past or present to add value to your squad?
7. How do you expect Vale to do this season?
8. What is your team's most memorable game with Vale (good or bad reasons)?
9. A score prediction (and potential scorers for both sides)?

Please also feel free to include any other information you feel worthy and I will knock it into a report as per the example below regarding contribution from Notts County fans from a game with them last season;
http://www.onevalefa...-County-%28H%29

To enable me to produce this in good time I need a reply by Thursday 28th August and the report should appear on the website a day or two before our fixture.

Please also let me know if you would like me to include your name on the article.

Many thanks for your potential support in this matter.

Best Regards,

REP

No problem.

1. I moved to Chesterfield at the age of 3 in 1997. The first game I remember was in the old Family Stand at Saltergate to witness a 0-0 v Gillingham, which Soccerbase tells me was Feb 2000, and the Spireites netted 3 goals which were ruled out for offside. That confusion and frustation of being a Chesterfield fan I suspect will never leave me.

2. There's really no telling as we're a complete enigma to this league. Early signs seem to match my pre-season guess that mid-table would be a realistic location for us.

3. Sam Morsy, but you'll know all about him. He's one of the best midfielders in the league and will play at a higher level than this.

4. Paul Cook always speaks with real integrity. He's delivered what he's promised and will never shirk from his footballing principles. He's been somewhat hindered by those above him in his progress in the market this summer, so our one real signing is Daniel Jones, another one you'll be familiar with. I've been really very impressed by Jonesy - it looks like this team is the right one for him and he's the right one for us.

5. All the talk this summer has been about off-field activities. Chairman Dave Allen pulled the plug on our overspend and refused to sanction new signings until we could afford to make them. That's fair enough, but the board seemed to not realise that we had no budget until mid-July. Fair to say, there was a bit of drama and calamity around the club, which is a real shame because we should all still be riding the crest of a wave following the title victory back in May.

6. Of course we need a forward, so give us Tom Pope if you would.

7. I'm in no place to give you an informed prediction, so this comes with a complimentary pinch of salt: mid-table/bottom half.

8. The one that sorely sticks in my mind is the 0-5 at Saltergate when Marc Richards netted a hattrick. I'm pretty sure I was vainly fighting tears back.

1. Got dragged along by hubby about 4 years ago and got hooked straightaway - now feel I am more of a fan than he is !
2. Expect us to finish just below half way in the table
3. Big man - Armand - if he plays he will totally confuse your defence with his bizarre play
4. No opinion really - wish he would sign a striker but doubt thats his decision
5. None
6. Tom Pope
7. Expect you to finish just outside play offs
8. Cant really remember
9. Score prediction 2-1 to you unfortunately -pope with both yours, Doyle with ours ( hope im wrong!!)

1. Finally managed to persuade my mother to take me to a match at the age of 9 back in April 1979. We lost 3-1 to Lincoln City but I was hooked anyway. My clearest memory of the day is sitting in the stand wondering why there wasn't a commentator like on Match Of The Day!

2.I expect us to hold our own this season and gain a respectable 10th place finish

3.Roberts and O'Shea

4.Fantastic manager and good signings though there just haven't been enough of them.

5.The board have overall done a great job. With Dave Allen on board we have been promoted as champions twice & got to the JPT final twice. Most lower league fans would bite your hand off for that kind of success. On the downside we failed to prepare properly for league 1 the last time we were promoted and this time though we have a better team we have still got in a bit of a mess with our budget. Hopefully the sale of Cooper to Leeds will enable us to strengthen before the close of the transfer window.

6.Sam Morsy

7.1 place above or 1 place below us.

8.2-0 home win in 2011. We played you off the park that day.

9.1-0 Chesterfield. The winner will be scored by Gary Roberts.

Thanks guys, great replies.

I will piece together the article, hope you enjoy the game, but not the result on Saturday.

I for one wish no ill will towards Morsy or Jones although I think the latter will get some grief from some of our numpties sadly.

1. First game - Home to Port Vale (vale won 2-1) the day of the Hilsborough Disaster
2. Mid table obscurity. Strong home record but will struggle to score away from home. prediction 14th (unless we sign a quality striker then we'll flirt with the play offs and finish 9th/10th)
3. Roberts (obviously) and Darikwa.
4. Seems to be able to spot promising talent, plays the game the right way. Very animated during a game.
5. Fantastic. Few mistakes but taking the club forward after years of stagnation.
6. Pope I guess is the obvious one, as we need a goalscorer, so also on that basis I'd say Craig Davies
7. Similar to us, strong at home but struggle away, mid-table obscurity of 12th-15th
8. Vale Park early 00's, can't recall the final score (poss 5-1) but we were 4-0 down in about 15 mins. Also, losing 3-2 at VP about 10 years ago, end to end game between two teams really going for it. And, 5-0 at Saltergate, Richard and Davies tore us to shreds that day and it could have been 10-0!
9. 1-0 to CFC - A backs-to-the-wall defensive performnace and a stolen goal on the break from Eoin Doyle.

I'm a pre match reporter (no I don't know either) for a Chesterfield fanzine and website called One Town fan. Part of my role is to question opposing fans for no real reason, with that in mind could the Vale fans answer the following questions:

1 - Why are you such massive dicks on football forums?
2 - Where do you practice your brick throwing, the brick to bus accuracy ratio is quite impressive?

Go on any football forum that has a cross reference of supporters and they will be the biggest douches on there. Every loss is someone else's fault, every win means they are going to be champions and their team is the best run in the entire world despite them actually being pretty tinpot.

All this is before you get to the slumhole that is Burslem and their band of neanderthals.

Edit: That said when I think of Port Vale I think of this video:
