Ok, for the last 3 matches we've got Grigg injured and nobody remotely able to replace him like for like. The best way to proceed is to switch formation to a front 2 of Quigley and Curtis or Hobson playing in their most effective positions.

Next season we need a striker like Grigg to provide competition and cover for injury but allow us to keep the same formation if it's doing well; and another pair who are effective as a front 2 as plan B.

It's cruel watching Quigley try to play the Grigg role. Let's be seen to be doing summat constructive for the rest of the season.

Listened to this wonderful documentary on’t wireless last night whilst stuck on the M1.
Anybody who wants to know owt about the miners strike and it’s very very local context should listen.
Wouldn’t surprise me if Fishi, EOC, and a few other vets know some of the very knowledgeable and elequent people interviewed and referred to.
One thing that surprised me was that it weren’t Thatcher that started the war against powerful unions, it was Barbara Castle under Callaghan.

Just to relieve boredom, I’m wondering whether this guy has registered on anybody’s ‘he’s a good un’ register?
Aldershot striker and Captain. Swiss U19 international who was snapped up by Brighton but did nowt. Now a ‘1 in 2’ man. 22 years old and OOC in June. From YouTube, he looks like a sturdy left footed skill full chap not blessed with lightning pace. I’ll be interested to see where he ends up.
  4. We Are Sailing Podcast

    18 January 2024 - 03:48 PM

Session 17 just gone up on Spotify. Nowt detailed to report, but .......
    Record sales in club shop.
Hospitality full for the rest of the season except for the odd place in midweeks.
2 or 3 players in contract talks.
East stand queuing is being managed better and mobile scanning to get folk in quicker is in the pipeline.
Community initiatives are going from strength to strength.
Training ground has had a drainage setback but contractors have been straight back to rectify.
Definite perceived link between training ground facility and fewer injuries.
Now over 4.5k ST holders and heroic goal for 5k next season.
Discussions taking place on usage of North stand for home supporters.
    Fanzone idea stuck in planning.
Some discussions taking place on further reducing car park footprint for exciting things.
    Nowt on state of finances.

That’s all I can remember off the top.
  5. Highlights Summary

    14 May 2023 - 07:08 PM

Well, a couple of things spotted (or not) in no particular order....

Colclough's early shot was his best option and went very, very close. Fantastic pass by Grimes to set him up.

Don't know why Dallas's early chance down the middle wasn't highlighted. Was he offside?

I think Bostock's free kick was actually a speculative pass/shot into an area that they knew Fitzy would parry rather than catch. He's done it alot recently.

Their second goal had a lot of Muralitharan loop about it. To pass so high over Fitz but dip under the bar by a millimetre is just a freak happening.

All our pens were top drawer attempts.

Akinola had a simple opportunity to set Dobra up on the edge of the area for a side foot into the corner but chose to try summat silly.

It's incomprehensible that the ref didn't know the rule for their goalie blunder. No one can deny that it was a goal scoring opportunity. I wonder what his mates on the intercom said to him? Did Jamie Hewitt have an opinion?

Anybody spot owt else worth discussing?
