Rochester is THE gem of the, otherwise dreadful, Medway towns. Castle, Cathedral, Dickens old home and museum, great restaurants, antique shops, bookshops and historic pubs, the place just reeks of history. I used to take my years 7's there every October on the basis it was much better to see a real castle than learn about one from a book. The architecture is so good, mediaeval to modern, that the high street is used as classroom for architect students.
No surprise CPS thinks it's awful. This is the man who said visiting Buckingham Palace and the opportunity to view all those Bellinis, Titians, Correggios, Canatlettos, Metsus and a Vemeer and a plethora of 17th century Flemish paintings was poor value. I know a philistine when I hear one.
In fact the prospect of visiting Rochester again is a pleasant prospect. Let me know what time your lunching Mick and I'll join you.

Check your phone, if you find it. Should be in 'spoons Stratford later if you fancy a slurp
