I have spent the day at Glossop watching Derbyshire 2nds v the Yorkshire puddings

A senior looking gentleman with a Lancs cricket club hat on came and sat next to me

Thinking it would be a Lancy Lancy Lancy accent when he spoke I was surprised to hear what I thought was an American accent but it turns out he was a Lancs fan visiting from Toronto

He is going back tomorrow and thought he would enjoy a day at Glossop

When I said I was from Chesterfield the first thing he daid was Oh dear They have just dropped out of the League havent they which was a surprise to him

He is only in the country for 2 weeks but knew straight away about our demise

We spent the day chatting about this and that and his knowledge of british sport was outstanding

One Derbyshire name he came out with was Fred Swarbrook who had to quit the game because of the bowling yips but he knew all about that which happened all of 40 years ago

All in all a remarkable gentleman who I wished a safe return over the Atlantic

He said it taked 7 hours but he gains 5 hours because of the time difference

He also said he would be looking out for our results next season

A sad state of affairs but he sounds like a nice chap.

You do know that Toronto is in Canada though, right?

Yes thanks I know Toronto is in Canada lol and yes he was a gentleman that when I left I was glad that I had

the fortune to have met him

The biggest laugh was when he asked the obvious question as to why we had slipped down the leagues

I think certain peoples ears must have been burning at that moment :windup

Edit

He also goes back to Toronto today with a new English phrase in his vocabulary namely DEE-DAH
