Biggest injustice since 97. VAR needs binning, goal line technology only, the rest is ruining the game. I never watch any football other than Town but as I had nothing on after getting back from the Town Hall stuck the match on whilst preparing dinner. Really feel for those Cov fans and players to have a moment like that taken away for the width of a toe nail. Hope they never bring that crap into the EFL.

Ultimately both teams were just playing for the right to get battered by a Petrodollar XI in the Final. Would the losing finalists qualify for Europe?

Although I wanted Coventry to win why is it an injustice?

VAR ruling out what should have been the winner. No game should be decided by a bloke in an office staring at a screen to find a millimetre of offside.

No injustice though, correct decision.

Not necessarily, because a decision as close as that depends on exactly when the line is drawn. If it is drawn a fraction of a second BEFORE the ball is played forward, the receiving player could look onside. If, in the same incident, the line is drawn a fraction of a second AFTER the ball is played, the receiving player coul appear to be offside. In other words, VAR is being assumed to possess a level of accuracy that it simply doesn't have. My biggest gripe with VAR, though, is not regarding accuracy, but the fact that it completely destroys the very essence of the game, which is the excitement of continuous end-to-end action and drama. I don't bother watching Premiership games now, because you don't know when a goal is a goal, or a penalty is a penalty etc etc, and you have to endure that ludicrous wait for a forensic examination before finding out if you can cheer and applaud. VAR rips the heart out of football, and the whole thing should just be scrapped immediately. If somebody gave me a free ticket for a PL match I'd flog it and put the money towards my L2 season ticket, in fact I wouldn't go to a VAR infected match if I was paid to go. The whole apparatus is the absolute height of idiocy, and the denial of that brilliant, incredibly exciting Coventry goal is just the latest illustration of it's utterly destructive effect on the very soul of the game. BIN IT NOW!!!

Too close for them to be 100% certain, that’s why cricket has umpires call because the tech isn’t 100%.

Agree, var can be 100% certain a player is offside but im not sure it can be 100% sure the ball has left the boot, lets face it , lineman are basically redundant

Whole thing is shambolic, what was the difference between ashley youngs handball and bissakas yesterday, identical but different decisions

Was it a ‘clear and obvious error’? That’s what we were told it was being brought in for.

I thought that was for missed decisions whereas the lines for offside are always drawn on.
On the subject of VAR if I was a Forest fan I’d be hugely miffed, all three of the possible penalty shouts should have been revived and at the least two were stonewall penalties.

I dont blame forest for their statement, they made the claim prior to the result and imo all 3 were penalties

The issue there is them having the right frame for when the ball is passed forward and then having a good enough picture to draw the lines in the right place by a human hand. You would have thought there was still some room for inaccuracy in that when its a decision as close as that one yesterday.

Were they certain they had the moment it was passed, were they certain the lines were in the right place?

The fact the two tackles from behind weren’t sent for onfield review was mind boggling.

Would you be saying the same thing if it was United who scored the winner in the same circumstances?

That's what I thought. It seems, though, that the offside technology ("the cross hairs") is now applied like goal-line technology.

The lino is perfectly in line. VAR should only apply when he/she isn't.
Also, the defender's arm is forward of his foot but it seems that's not taken into account.

They change things that often now i could be wrong but not sure arm counts as it has to be a body part that can play the ball without it being a foul.

Of course it would have gone to VAR for an offside check!

It’s irrelevant which team it was. VAR sucks the life out of football, that excitement that utter joy of the moment is put on hold whilst something is forensically analysed. Football, any sport, isn’t about someone in an office drawing imaginary lines.
