In a moment of national celebration Rubiales made a mistake, a clear error of judgement viewed by millions. As a result, he lost his role as the Spanish football chief. But does it warrant a trial and a possible prison sentence?

It's a no from me, it was a heat of the moment thing, he was overjoyed for the ladies to have won the world cup, and made an error of judgement at that time, he's since been sacked publicly disgraced, surely that's enough, a prison sentence is a step too far imo.

I'm not certain but isnt there more to it than just this one moment? There had been issues with the coach prior to the world cup that Rubiales and co didnt sort leading to a number of players making themselves unavailable for selection and missed the world cup.

Found this article on BBC Sport from Guillem Balague which contains the following line about the blokes celebration at the win :-
https://www.bbc.co.u...otball/66873595

Quote

From the moment Rubiales grabbed his crotch in an inappropriately naff gesture of celebration before planting a kiss on the lips of Hermoso

What bothers me is on GMTv this morning you have a lady positively frothing at the mouth wanting him sent to prison, what has it got to do with her, how can it be proved beyond reasonable doubt that this wasn?t just a stupid heat of the moment reaction, you can?t send people to prison based on nothing

All she needed to do in that moment was turn her head, she didn't. It wasn't right, he shouldn't have done it but, prison? Ghadi beat his wife - hero; Mandela blew up innocent people - hero; Martin Luther King was a serial adulterer with at least 40 bounder children, a hater of white people - hero. Perspective is everything.

Does the Rubiales incident warrant a trial and a possible prison sentence?
