While I'm grateful for all the psychoanalysis that I seem to be getting on here, can I just point out that I'm 50 next month and it's pi**ing me off. That's all there is to it. Once the day comes and goes, I'll be fine so no need to worry. I'm not 'losing it' at all and, even if I were, I had plenty of it to start with so it wouldn't be a problem.

And, like you say, I'm healthy ....last sick day off work was summer 2006. Haven't been to the doctors in years. I'm in decent shape. Sorry if that sounds a bit ...vain, but it's true: I workout four times a week at 6am in the morning to keep it that way.

You really shouldn't be bothered about being 50. Happened to me a couple of years ago and everything was just the same the day after. Age as they say is only a number. My dad retired at 57. I won't retire until 67. On the basis of years left to retirement, in my eyes therefore 50 is the new 40. And to be honest I am enjoying life more now than I did at 42.

Forget the number and enjoy the life.

Thank you; I really appreciate your words I know that I shouldn't be letting it get to me but I'm not fully in control of that and sometimes it just does. I'm having a wobble; just a slight problem with the old mind. I wonder if people would be just as happy to mock those that are physically unwell. Or is that somehow different?
