With it only being a week now till the England U19’s game, at our wonderful new stadium, I was wondering if Phil, Dalek and Geoff are ready to entertain their colleges from our own and the German press? For the first time we will have local, national and international media in the stadium, and would like to think we can put on a good show for them. So you three, and any others involved, flush out the broadband; put out those cigarettes; get those suits to the dry cleaners, get your hair cut, darn those socks, polish those shoes, and do us proud!

A few phrases for you to help smooth the way with your German colleges!

This way to the press boxes ladies and gentlemen.
Auf diese Weise die Pressefächer Damen und Herren.

The VK girls do not offer that kind of service, and even if they did you would not be able to claim it on expenses.
Die VK-Girls bieten nicht, dass Art von Service, und selbst wenn Sie taten Sie nicht in der Lage wäre, es auf Aufwendungen zu verlangen.

I do not have any more 30 year old single malt whisky, as you have drunk the entire bottle.
Ich habe keine mehr 30 Jahre alte single Malt Whisky, wie Sie die ganze Flasche getrunken haben.

P.S. Don’t mention the war!

Have we had many requests for press passes from the German media for the U19’s match? Is the game being televised on German TV stations, I’ve not found any broadcasting it in this country? I’ve imagined us being featured in the German equivalent of “Look North” or “Calendar” and it has given me a giggle or two!

Is there anyone who would like to give us a story or two about how the game last night went from a media point of view? Would love to know why Radio Sheff had their Football Heaven show live from the stadium, and even had regular updates throughout the night! I haven’t found any national newspaper reports about the match, were there any at the game? Did the German press turn up and what were their impressions of the stadium? So many questions, so few answers, please take pity on the incurably curious.

As much as some like to give them stick for not bothering about us i suspect they were giving us some exposure for actually hosting the game plus whilst they were covering the Millers live its probably a bit of a trek to take all the kit and have to leave late after hosting the show from Gillingham. There was also some local interest for them in that one of the lads that came on up front plays at the Blunts.
