I think if you asked most England fans what they wanted from their team, they'd reply that they wanted entertainment. As soon as we score, we drop deep and don't hunt for the second goal. We can blame Kane for not holding position and pulling defenders when he moves, Trent Alexander Arnold for not looking after the ball, or Trippier for not sending in crosses, but they don't,all of a sudden become poor players. All three I've mentioned are class players, but trying to play the ball while bunched up in front of the defence isn't going to end well. Kane is having to drop deep to get a touch once we drop off, and Trippier is one of the best attacking full backs we have.
I'm sure Southgate has been watching videos of the Italian teams of old, when they used to go one up and defend as though their lives depended on it. The difference being, is, that's how the Italians played day in day out, we don't. So please Mr Southgate, can we watch some English football giving Harry Kane the chance to score more than one, Trent to be unshackled and given the freedom to do what he does best and allow Trippier to ghost past a full back or two.
I'm not even bothered about being entertained. I just want to see a team playing to a plan, expressing themselves with energy and with players in their proper positions. Not the dull, passive, experimental nonsense we have seen so far. -

Think the talk was that Shaw would be available for the last group game, that would help a lot to have a natural left back in there.
2 are a necessity currently due to Shaw being injured and no other left back taken as none jumped out to be picked in the squad, Trippier has played there numerous times for England before. The third one is TAA who has played right back less for his club recently as well where he has also played in midfield. There is a reasoning behind three right backs in there and it doesnt show the full picture to blindly say we played three backs!
Shaw hasn't played a single minute of first team football for 4 months. It's madness to suggest he will drop straight back into a team in a European Championships and make a huge difference. -

After the last round of matches we could still finish 3rd in the group and probably just scrape into the quarter finals
That would certainly change who we play and leave us more exposed to teams who look as though they are
actually enjoying playing for their countries and will expose our current tactics
OH dear THEY rather than IT will certainly be coming home unless there is a massive mindset change
What?? If we finish 3rd it's time for them to get on the beach.
Edit: Didn't realise the 4 best placed 3rd placed teams also qualify. Apologies.
