A brilliant insight. In other words - if we had vast resources and brilliant management we'd be a bigger club.

I'm glad you get it. Now the real question is whether the current incumbents can deliver.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

The interesting thing for me is that those who forgive everything because "Chesterfield is a small club" are the very people who stifle it from ever becoming more than that.

If sustained investment and management ability (at both board and team level) could be improved to make CFC an attractive deal for existing supporters, new fans , sponsors and general inward investment then it could potentially become something alot bigger.

It amazes how some people blame the small attendances for our shortcoming yet dont look at the issues that affect attendance or the things that could improve it. Indeed they seem to wear the small attendances excuseas a badge of honour.

At this moment in time, I'd consider Chesterfield to be a small club, but it does have the potential to be much bigger. A new ground with modern facilities would entice sponsers and would attract new and old fans to the club. At this moment in time we will not substain 5,000-6,000 fans on a weekly basis due to the fact that the club hasn't moved out of the dark ages. Saltergate will only appeal to die-hard fans.

A new ground, possible new investors and a complete overhaul of the match day experience, would turn us into a team that could consistently attract crowds of 5000 +. Supporters would finally believe that the club had the ambition to be better than also ran's.
If only....

Where did this come from, I thought it originated fom someone speculating on how the hell could we afford to sign Lester.

The only person likely to be topping us up is the "investor waiting in the wings". I'm surprised you believe that one.

Thats why we ain't heard anything form the Hubbard since the ST's went on sale in April, he's hijacked the investor and hid him in the wings

As we were walking back to the coaches at Brentford what amazed me was the lack of segregation and very few police numbers on the streets around the narrow streets around the ground. There are 4 pubs on on each corner of the ground with fans stood outside, there was no sign of trouble, but I just wondered what would happen if a Grimsby situation arose down there.

the met seem to have a bit more idea regarding football policing. no real history of trouble between us & brentford, hence low police numbers.

Grimsby fans just proved how bad some of there fans really are,i have been all over and had drinks with lots of opposing fans, which it should be like.
