Ya but on the other hand Fish we NEVER got in our oppenents half!

Which would you sooner have?
Did he not play today then?

Right now I would settle for the rest of the season to be 1-0 wins with a defence like Duncans then the crap teams we are playing would not get a sniff, we would only need to score one goal, don't concede don't lose end of

Didn't work for Duncan though did it? and he had premiership players in the making in the squad!

If it wasn't for duncan we wouldn't have that remarkable chant "Attack Attack Attack" which is still used today, usually when we are under the cosh after a long period of trying to score a goal.

And lets not forget the once mighty 'crooked spireite', had a fondness for Mr Duncan too!

No because Norton Lea sold them all shortly after the 97 cup run.

In a nutshell, my friend.

right the season off when we're in a p/off position & close to automatic with only 21 games left. then we can sack rico, declare you as a soothsayer & clamour to touch the hem of your garment.

Even though we lost again I was disappointed but still have some hope after todays result. We still created plenty of chances to get at least a share of the points. Brebtford played well and are on a good run and I wouldn't be surprised if they made the play-offs at least.
The Ward / Lester partnership doesn't work, we look a lot stronger up front when Fletch. plays.Wardy is a talented player but needs to steady himself alittle when he gets a sight of goal, a simple tap-in is as good as a thunderbolt ( he was aweful today and will be lucky to keep is place against Rochdale).
We have a dodgey keeper and a defence that are always likely to make a blunder and often do. The midfield are better with Leven and Niven in the middle, and from what I saw of young Maloney today, he could bolster the midfield whilst Lowery would be better at fullback.

Its easy to see we dont have the quality that is required to get in the automatics. The bookies agree and have us 6th favourite, probably about right. Whether that is good enough is another debate. It probably will be for Hubbard, who will no doubt come up with more excuses.

If you can look at the situation from a degree of detachment it will seem clear by now that we are unlikely to gain automatic promotion, unless we can scrape into the third spot. MK Dons are likely to finish top and Rotherham are showing tremendous consistency and I fear my wish of finishing above the MIllers is now nothing more than a dream. Rico maybe cannot see it and, I suspect, some on here cannot see it, but the evidence strongly suggests it's the play offs at best for us. If Rico believes he can get us up on what we have he is the eternal optimist. The facts show that we cannot stop teams scoring against us on a regular basis and, come May, that is likely to be the main reason we don't make the top 3. Rico will either address this defensive issue or he will keep faith in the staff we have. If it is the latter, he is deluding himself. Is it now 4 defeats or 8 or 9 games?

One of his centre back signings for starters to play alongside Kovacs.

I agree that JD was a good manager, i was frustrated with the fans who disliked him so much and i agree he was one of our better managers in recent years, but he did have too much of an obsession with the defence, he always believed a team should be built from the back but for him this was like painting the forth bridge, as soon as the defence seemed fine and the striking positions, or left midfield seemed the obvious places to strengthen he'd bring another defender in.

If JD was the manager now sure we'd be capable of grinding out 1-0 wins but i doubt they'd be that many people that would be happy with the performances, we'd be in a similar position i expect but instead of slating the manager for his defensive choices fans would be slating him for his attacking choices.

In an ideal world the best of both worlds would be excellent. A JD side with Jack Lester upfront, but we all know what JD did with Nozza.
