Successful spell at Walsall though it would seem.

Being polite - absolute rubbish. Hall is a class player, above the level of most of ours. His experience, skill, ability and composure is precisely what our current midfield is lacking.
I would have him back tomorrow, but that obviously is not to be.
I don't know what the midfield set - up is at Wrexham, but if he's given the chance I expect him to impress at this level.

Surely you'd have to agree though he was poor for us last season?

He was a good player on his day however for what we were paying him he was very poor value last year. If he was on a very small wage he would still do a job for us out wide, to give us an option

Fair point. Maybe Rico thought that age had caught up with him and there was nothing left. It has also been rumoured on here he was one of the higher paid players. I also tend to agree with a previous poster that at times Hall did look disinterested.
Add these together and I think Rico was right to let him go.
I often look in the papers to see how our former players are getting on and noticed that, like Larkin, at the start of the season Hall was being selected for first XI. However, over the last few months both had been relegated to the bench.

Soph,
Hally had the class, but he had a big problem applying it. He was the type of experienced player that you would hope would take control of a game, instead, he went missing for long periods. The type of midfielder we need at the minute is a Hursty or Jamal, certainly not a Hally.
He's lasted 5 months at Walsall. Mind you, I suspect his old 'motorway buddy' Brian Little has monitored events closely.

I know that he plays a different position in midfield to Hall but do you think Leven may be that player? I'm wondering if the captaincy responsibilities may just have spurred him on a little.

Leven will never achieve a 15 goal season like Hall did for us. Pity he came to us at the wrong end of his career.

Not bothered about his goalscoring BR, I was refering to Leven taking control in midfield and 'running' the game for us. I do believe Leven continues to improve and wondered if he may be turning into a player who can do the midfield general job for us.
