What was the point? I know they've languished in the 4th division for a while but that's not exactly gonna get them known for the right reasons. The amount of police for a 4,500 gate hinted that they expected it.

history with Grimsby isn't there

the last league game of the 1989/90 season saw a lot of trouble, and a few years back at Grimsby me and a few mates were set upon by a lot of their idiots who stormed into the pub where the police had made us go

coming out of town about 1pm, there was a dozen or so boys in blue gathered by the pub near the old markham works and thought at the time that looks odd

Serves em right, got the pasting they deserved, saw a few town fans with cuts etc but the ones dragged out were the Grimsby lot to stop them getting a beating.

Should have told them they paid 15 quid for that end and that's where they were staying!! Deserved everything they got and much more. As for the bloke with the re-aligned jaw I hope it's fkin killing him, he was about 50.

2 questions for the club:

1. Why were the men involved (they weren't kids) alllowed to stand at the front of the kop singing Grimmsby songs, next to the stewards and f all was done until the pushing and shoving started. They should have been ejected straight away.

2. Having entered the home end to deliberately cause trouble, why were some of them allowed to walk the length of the pitch and go in the away end? They should have been arrested along with the others. In effect we condoned what they did. They got no punishment at all, other than a few smacks.

Spot on Ern. The moment those idiots started chanting for Grimsby the stewards should have hauled them out. If they had acted fast enough they may have prevented the punch up. Instead they did nothing.

and as a result of that a few town fans will get banned, so we lose more revenue and it could easily have been averted

I'm not a violent man by any means but I'm suprised it took so long for a punch to be thrown.

Why employ cowardly, over-age, dubious stewards full stop? police equivalent of P.C.S.O's - waste of time

Having watched today's event, same could be said about some police officers!

Even of it is 15 quid I think they should be capable of pointing out a problem to the police. It wasn't rocket science to work out it would kick off if we allow away fans to stand there chanting etc.

If the trouble had escalated and the club got fined, there would still be no accountability in respect of inept stewarding AGAIN
