I’m surprised and happy with this signing (Akinola). I liked the lad going forward. His defensive play was not great, but if he’s played alongside someone who’s an out and out DM then he certainly adds some pace and directness to midfield.

Why do you say that? Don't forget we can sign as many Keepers as we like as they don't count towards the defined squad list.

A Trophy we should be aiming to win this season, if not its a waste of time actually starting the season..
No point kicking a ball if ya not winning a Trophy...

We’ll see what Cook thinks.
He didn’t bother the last season we were in it.

It’s more of a “let’s play without a keeper and defence, we don’t need em” 😀

Well. Four ‘qualifying players’. Who can all be substituted of course.

Really peased to see Akinola back, very skilful, bags of talent and got pace. Better going forward but alongside the more defensively minded and experienced Naylor should do well!

The fact that Walton and Bonnyman don't rate him, is further evidence of another cracking Cook signing!

The manager obviously thinks that there are good enough reasons to offer Akinola another contract so

lets just see how it turns out next season

Was never impressed with the 3 year deal for grigg especially for a forward with no pace , lets see how he fares in the real league not the tin pit one we have thankfully got out of.

Unless you watch his involvement in Dobras goal

Akinola has something in of obvious quality…trust in Cook

Was going to say the same. Akinola was key in winning the ball back then picked out banks with the pass who then played in dobra.

For me he’s an upgrade on Oldaker. Like for like in the squad.

From what I’ve seen and remember Oldaker and Akinola are not “like for like”.

Oldaker has a rare goal and a free-kick capability along with a range of passing both long and short but lacks pace.

Akinola has a rush of blood when near the penalty area and never hit the back of the net but he had pace and could carry the ball whilst never displaying a range of passing ability.

Having said that, it seems Cook is going for a range of youth and experience so it should be interesting to see what happens next.

Jesus you’d think we’d gone up to the premier league. There are some really bad defenders in that league as well, we know that we’ve had some of them.
He will continue to make his runs, the more mobile defenders may go with him, which at times this year they haven’t, but all that will mean is there will be a gap from where the defender has been pulled and we will have more than enough to exploit it.
