So delete that guideline then (and other examples if there are any)?

Is it right to rely on the reporting process if anyone feels strongly enough given the known issues with this Board at the moment, which for example led to concerns that some people had over the recent post re Travellers going unaddressed for several days?

I've had no input to the setting of the guidelines which as Goku says were set a long time ago and agree they need reviewing.

I'm going to move this thread to the message board section so folks can propose what sort of guidelines and rules they want to see as this is a message board effectively owned by the fans for the fans.

As for your second point I personally rely upon folks reporting stuff as I don't have the time to read every posting and reporting is a useful barometer if folks are truly offended.

I do accept there are technical issues with reporting and it seems at times PM's but as most regular readers know this has been brought to Denny, the technical guru's attention.

Guidelines were probably written about 20 years ago to be fair. Hard to moderate consistently all the time, just don't take the p**s and you'll be rate. Walton was deffo extracting the urine with his post about JP.

Not defending Walton at all, but there seems little consistency
A new hope.

Who has 'trolled' as much as him? I know you're going to say H and you know I don't think much of the fella (I'm sure the feeling is mutual) but Walton is more blatant, he creates multiple threads about the same thing and rarely engages in actual discussion, preferring to spam and leave. I don't reply to them any more but I can see why he was banned and I'm not sure anybody else in recent months has done anything which I think would warrant a ban.

Thanks. I wonder if the no swearing rule and associated swear filter should just be scrapped? Perhaps not a good idea, but I've never been convinced by the claim that children visit this Board.

Maybe, but message boards with no swearing controls are for me a big turn off.

I agree about kids, never seen any sign of any

Flippancy aside, I agree that the swear filter is a good thing.
These go to eleven.
