Now we’re truly talking bad keepers

Abbey gets remembered for two things, letting in 6 on his debut and the argument about giving his shirt away (i can't recall where).

He was a decent keeper for us, and wouldn't be even in the top 10 worse keepers of recent times, never mind worst players of any position.

3 things - his departure left a bad taste

Abbey was a very good keeper (just had a nightmare first game! Colchester wasn’t it)?

Top bloke- I bought a car from him- spoke very highly of his time at Town

Bill Curry (Mansfield) was on a par with Gerrard for fitness.

Do you know, I nearly said BC but you shouldn’t speak ill of the dead. I liked Frank Lord and Ivan Hollitt and couldn’t understand the signing.

What about Trappertoni Moore ?

4 things - the save at Reading where we won with a goal from Jon Howard, can still see it.

His performance at Uddersfield was a complete contrast to his 'traffic cone' debut at home v Colchester.
These go to eleven.

I think we should also acknowledge the defences contribution.to the debacle - could have been 12

Hang on a minute didn't he leave under a cloud claiming under payment/money owed or something?
Or his he another of your I know him claims, a bit like your mate at Bromley who we are still awaiting character assessments of the clown Bush

Can’t remember the detail but it turned a bit nasty after he delayed signing a new contract and we withdrew it before he realised it was the best offer he was going to get.

Doesn’t change the fact that he was good shot stopper and not as bad as some claim.

Came back last year in a Trophy game as an assistant manager (Bedford?) and got a decent reception

I doubt many will mourn Gerrards departure, including the man himself. The way he conducted himself as a ahem professional athlete and on social media was an embarrassment to The club. But I guess he'll think he did nothing wrong

Yhep agree on all your points. However the ' only had good things to say' claim seemed a bit odd considering his inauspicious departure and makes one wonder was it a bit of name dropping to enhance ones ego.
Nathan Abbeys demeanour, game appreciation, conduct in the technical area during the FAT game was a credit and a breath of fresh air at this level
