the finer details of this should govern how people react

if he has picked the girl up in a nightclub that she should have been 18 to get into anyway and took her home not knowing her true age I could have some sympathy with him

if he knew her age and this was more of a 'relationship' than a one night thing then I feel he deserves a strong punishment and will probably get hounded out of football as Ched Evans has been

Sorry but if you're 27 and you see a young lass in a club who's 15 you can tell. Even if the bouncers turn a blind eye. Totally do not buy into the idea that they could "look 18" or whatever. I work with under 18s and everything about 15 year olds in terms of looks, attitudes, mannerisms etc should scream to any rational adult that they're underage.

Yes girls can dress up and load on make up and may even be advanced in their development. But you can still tell if they're old enough to getting up to that kinda stuff. There is a huge difference between 15, 17 and 18+ If you're 27 and a multi millionaire then why not just crack on with some model? Not some kid

*obviously he hasn't been charged yet either. Could be untrue.

don't agree

some girls (and lads) of 15/16 look much older - this is why pubs do challenge 25 or challenge 21 instead of trying to guess if a youngster is 18

and what's it got to do with him being wealthy?

if any lad picks up a lass in a club and it ends up they were underage then they have been unlucky and it is simply not the same as grooming a young girl of that age for a relationship

details of this case are not known yet, so can't be quick to judge

Challenge 25 is for challenging people who may not be at the legal age to buy alcohol which is 18.

Age of consent is 16.

Massive massive difference in a girl who's not quite old enough to buy a drink at 17 than a girl not at the age of consent at 15.

so why do they send 15 year old test purchase kids into pubs to try and get served?

Well it certainly isn't because they look 18.

It's because venues knowingly serve underage and some deliberately don't ID.

Huge different in the appearance and maturity of a 15 year old and a 17 year old. The transformation of kids between 15 to 18 and 18-20 is staggering.

Why would Sunderland cut him off straight away? Is it because he is guilty in a REALLY bad way? The worst kind of way?
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

They've suspended him pending the outcome...they did the same when Titus Bramble was arrested over a rape allegation a few years ago but when the case was dropped he was back playing for them. If the case is dismissed against Johnson then he'll be back playing.

What's terrible is that there is no anonymity at this stage-what if found not guilty -mud will always stick

I also noticed a few of the reports were quick to report how a gun was found in the house as well.....only later editing to mention that its legally owned so no legal issue!

He should face serious jail time if found guilty. A 27 year old shagging a 15 year old is completely unacceptable. If it was some 18-19 year old player I'd have a little bit of sympathy, but not much.

all depends on the circumstances - totally different if it begins in a nightclub to whether it begins via say meeting up with her walking down the street. that being said i don't know if that'd make a difference legally. let's not wish chemical castration on the lad just yet.

Ironically on a day when a player passes away who will be genuinely mourned, this thread pops up about a modern day 'footballer'.

I know which one is worthy of comment and respect.

Rest In Peace Mr McKay.
