We know whose side he’s on, he probably owns a similar car park.

But that’s the point, if he does own a car park then I’d imagine he’s legally entitled to charge a fee for using it? Or would u say you can legally ignore his charges and park on his land for free?

Who’s the victim?

The only victim I see is the poor sod who received the fine.

so not tesco, who cant get another customers car in who could shop in their store?

thought that is how you'd see it, never defend the big companies (that employ lots of people - or dont if they go bust, see Wilko, Woolworths, Toys R Us et al). But they are the victim.

It really is.

It's a civil matter. There is no contract. Literally all you need to know.

I can assure you through experience that ignoring these nowadays will result in an expensive bill.

Up to the last few years and following support from people like Martin Lewis and Watchdog they could be ignored but now companies are pursuing these to the end.

Listening to advice from a football forum is not the best place to take advise like this.

The other commercial companies in the district also display warning notices over parking beyond the alloted time.Everyone seems to accept that so why should Tesco be different ?

No just a couple of parking spaces on my drive...

I'm on the side of doing what is right, that's what makes a civilised society

You can’t compare parking for 10 minutes too long at Tesco to some selfish idiot blocking your drive.

Fining somebody an extortionate amount of money for parking 10 minutes over doesn’t contribute to a civilised society, I find when things like this happen it makes people rather angry and uncivilised so it achieves the exact opposite.

Its how it works, here is a rule, stick to it or there is a consequence. If not, then people stop sticking to it - and where does that end....

You wont agree because its the little man against the big company, forgetting the big company employs the little man (and your pension scheme probably has shares in Tesco). Is shoplifting OK as long as its not too much too often? a bit of abuse for the staff as long as its not for long...?

There is no contract to take to a court that could be considered as breached. For one party to prove you owed them they would have to provide evidence of said contract. Physical or verbal. In the case of Tesco car park. There is no such contract.

It's a scam.

By parking on their premises you are tacitly agreeing to abide by their rules.
These must be clearly marked on their signage.
If not, or obscured, that is the only get out.
There is no contract in terms of money changing hands but that is irrelevant.
Tesco say you can park on their land for a limited time and if you don’t comply they can charge a fine.
Pay it now or it might get more expensive.

They’re no different, I wouldn’t pay them either unless they were issued by an official traffic warden.

Tesco car parks massive anyway, it’s highly unlikely the person who got the fine was taking anyone else’s space so the fine’s completely unnecessary.

Pure greed, plain and simple, stand up to it.

PS same goes for the TV licence, that’s a rip off too, fill in the form, tell em you don’t watch telly and just use the internet, I ain’t paid mine in 14 years and never had any bother from them either.

Bit of a differnce being 10 minuites over time from a shop trip and parking for football on a site that clearly states its for store customers?

What happens if in the unlikely event Tescos car park is full of folk who arnt in the store?.
Or you cant get your spot in the ground because the drivers in Tescos!

Moral is respect the rules you dont have to like them.

I am for real - you have taken something you havent paid for, that is stealing.... The trouble is too many people think its a victimless crime, but the reality is the rest of us are paying for the people who dont pay their way....

It’s not stealing, just a breach of those parking conditions.
God I hate this league.

And there we are, we got there in the end....nowt to do with contracts or anything, tesco dont need it... we dont like businesses that make money in this country, must be why we like nationalised industries so much... but profits allow employment, investment, economic growth and prosperity for others. Anyone see how Bowmer and Kirkland grew when they had the contract to build Tesco new stores nationally...? Local firm done good - local jobs for local people, money in the local community (one of the senior managers lives in Bowsa)....

You’re seriously comparing parking charges with shoplifting and abusing Tescos staff?

Even the law (as useless as it is) wouldn’t make that comparison, you can get into legal trouble for shop lifting and abuse whereas it’s not actually illegal to overpark.

The OP got a fine for parking, he didn’t steal anything or abuse anyone and I don’t know why you have to mention pensions, that’s totally irrelevant.

Dear BBC……………

……Please keep your own house in order, stop employing people who groom minors, stop trying to cover up the appalling conduct of the evil nonces you employ and stop sending people reminders who boycotted the BBC after you covered up for the worst ever pedophile in the history of Britain SIR Jimmy Saville.

Cheers

Its breach of contract but where does the line get drawn? what about declaring your income for tax? what about not paying someone who comes and does some work for you - or not paying your workers? How about some dodgy deals on PPE? For me as a society either we work on the principle that all rules are there to be adhered to or we accept the consequences that none are...

The pension thing was to point out that if people steal from Tesco everyone whose pension fund is invested in Tesco is losing out - that could include you, Goku, bedwetter or indeed me. And I'd rather they didnt nick from me, thanks....
