We all want Roman to land his jet on Saltergate, and walk in and say, here's X amount, can I be the owner?

We all want CFC to move forward, new ground, better players, better seasons, better performances etc.

How else can we market CFC to the great british public, and over sees (lol) ?

Who was the last club to be took over by someone else, besides Man U / Chelsea?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I usually find people who resort to posts like this have lost the argument.

Answers

1. Yes that would be cool.

2. I agree we all do, is it really going to happen under the current board set up though?

3. I'm no marketing expert but I'm 100% sure we could be doing more.

4. Clubs are being taken over all the time, in fact CFSS keep extolling the virtues of Northampton whilst seeming to forget they have been taken over by a chap in recent years. NTFC that are now in the play offs after a shaky start and look likely to be favourites for promotion.

Do you think we could have been / will be more succesful (in term's of league status) under new ownership then?

Nothing is ever certain but I think we would have a better chance with the ability to attract better players.

I know, which is why a put "IF you weren't a fan of CFC, would you invest?"

Are we that attractive to anybody at all, with our ground, and fan base?

FE were willing to invest yes, but as Danny said, it was at a risk to CFC.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Was it anymore of a risk than debenturing the ground with no way of paying this money back without selling Saltergate?

As I say the whys and wherefores of teh FE bid are to be honest irrelevant in this discussion, I merely used them as an example that you can get people involved if you put the work in.

Thats a different thread forming right there.

Whilst I think that current squad is useful I dont think anyone really believes it can move us that far forward insofar as challenging at the top end of the league. I'm happy to be proven wrong of course.

Let me ask you this. If this is the squad McFarland can get when we are down to bare bones what could he do if we had a board that could truly back him?

Yes and no. It is in response to where you expect that we as a club should be and whether or not our current / new owner's have met / can meet expectation's.

Who brought Roy Mac to the club?

1. The harsh truth is the best squad we have had was when we were promoted from the basement. So you could argue DB delivered but of course it was at great cost. Its a tricky one to balance but if CFSS are doing such a great job howcome there are dissenting voices and a membership a fraction of what it used to be. People like Jonesy who put the effort in and actively have supported CFSS now want nothing to do with them and recognise that things must change.

2. It was the CFC board that brought him to the club and fair play to them for that. Under RM's stewardship we have managed to just about survive in every season he's been involved at the club. Maybe I'm talking crazy but I want more for this club than just surviving.

The Promotion squad wasn't as good as the current one player for player,Pollitt, Reeves and Beckett apart.

More than just surviving - what do you want then? Promotion? We all want to win every game but being realistic we aren't going to get promoted to the championship are we, we do remarkably to stay in the third tier consistently.

1. I think we'll be disagreeing again.

2. Throughout its history Chesterfield has proved itself to be a 3 tier team quite consistently with the occasional dabble with the basement. The problem is now its all we can do hang onto that 3rd tier. With a relegation comes the possibility we could end up very much like Cambridge with our current set up, as at the moment we seem to be treading water and if we start to go down we could sink without trace.

If you mean am I happy to stay in the third tier, then for the forseable future then certainly, I would rather have CFC / CFSS than have an owner who has no interest in football or our club's welfare.

I would however, love for CFSS to hand over the reign's to a succesful entrepeneur who has time and money (and a love for the game)

I try to be a realist thats all, we have done well to stay up. I just dont want not being relegated to count as a success all the time as I fear this attitude could see us finally get caught out and then I really fear for the future of the club. I mean you only have to look at the attendances after a shaky start never mind a season in the basement .
