With Carter, Rowley being the attacking midfielders and Maguire sitting Infront of Evans in the defence along with Boden upfront the spine of the team next season looks like taking shape already.

Well I wouldn’t go that far 😂
He had a good game today, but they had no real threat in the last third to break up. I think we need to see him there a few more times yet. A few decent performances today. Denton won most headers he went for but they were a small side. We certainly looked worse when he went off. Evans steady as ever. Boden took his goal well. Rowley plated well second half.
Yarney doesnt convince me. Chapman had bags of ability, great crosser, but he’s mesh and bone idle.

Think you mean nesh and bone idle Ernie. He certainly is on both accounts.

for a number of seasons now I've come away from games saying the difference was in both boxes, today I find myself saying it again only this time in our favour.

I did thank you. I can’t make my mind up if that’s him as a player or him as a loan player and he plays like he does because his heart isn’t in it for us. There certainly appears to be a lot more in the tank.

I thought we played with a back three and have done so for a little while.
Either way, Maguire looked good in his defensive midfield role I am pleased to say.
The weakness yesterday was at wing back on both sides of the pitch. A bit more aggression there and both the defence and our creative central midfielders would have been better protected.

Boden was great too, a great partership developing there between to two of them.
Was NOT impressed with MAF, we looked lost when he came on...
Maguire played very well, perfect postition for him gives him more room to pass etc. (plus as he gets caught out of position or misses anything there's still people behind him).

he'll have to be at least 20% fitter if he wants to be a regular defensive midfielder or he'll get caught out of position and miss things in the last quarter. It will take time but it was a great start.

Given the lack of first team football played by all the midfield 3 over the last 6 months, it is going to take time for them all to be match fit. I think given that between them they have only played a handful of games and none as a 3 together, it was a really good performance by all 3. I know certain people expect more from each of them individually for different reason but given a run until the end of the season playing together, i think we will see a good unit formed that is capable of not only playing together at this level but being a significant force as well.
