Agree. The man needs bringing in to the fold. The most talented Englishman of all time without a shadow of a doubt.

One of very few truly world class players to grace the grass of Saltergate - and he was sadly well past his best when we saw him play there.

Who was that for? Can't remember seeing him at Saltergate, was it for Middlesborough in the cup?

Sorry to say I don't give a toss about him nowadays, he has had so many chances to turn his life around. Its very sad when talented players like him and Best go so far over the rails its impossible to turn back.

you don't want to discuss things like addiction, mental health etc. with most football fans as they are unbelievably ignorant of how it can impact one's life

Sadly it's just a matter of time before he kills himself with his addictions

I had serious alcohol issues from university to my early 40's. In April this year I will have been alcohol free for 5 years. Odds may be against Gazza but there is always a chance he can turn it around.

Fair play to you for beating your demons mate, but I don't think Gazza has the mental fortitude to do it. He just wants to be liked and loved by everybody and he could never cope with not being in the limelight. After he finished playing he went to bits. He also has the added problem of drugs.

Most mental health issues are caused by chemical imbalances in the brain which are beyond the sufferers control. Not nice to see whatever peoples circumstances.

Whatever path it takes you to get there, church or no church, you're going in the right direction. Well Done and keep going.

Is it the religion, or the support that you found most helpful?

A new hope.

There was a thread about Clarke Carlisle's recent suicide attempt on TFF (well I don't think it's been confirmed as a suicide attempt yet but it's a pretty safe guess). Not only were there a plethora of ignorant comments about the bloke, one cretin said "Ah, depression - the coward's excuse for doing/not doing something" - or words to that effect. In this day and age, comments like that are beyond me.

The religion, but both have helped. I was an agnostic before.
