Read the post properly who's saying that any one would want to take 2 of our most I influential players out of the team. But if we were unlucky to lose them both at the same time, would you be confident that we had enough cover to replace them. Cant rely on Quigley or Asante, Jez is not the answer and Curtis still has to prove is worth, which I am sure he will given time.

I knew what you meant Dave , can't believe anybody would read that diffently!!

So, just to be clear before the vast majority of us see any highlights, you say that Grimes is at fault for both goals?

Decide for yourself when you see the highlights
IMO Grimes is Captain and organiser (or not) defensively and then look at the goals we concede- you will see that Grimes is in the picture BUT not quite on most occasions
You will probably argue this is down to Cooks high line game plan BUT sadly JG cant play this and never will - he is a lower level NL player and thats it
Having seen this over the last couple of seasons (not working) and certainly during the PS friendlies I would have expected us to try something different with the options that we have.
I thought the Bristol game we did try something different to start with and it appeared that Naylor was more central between the 2 CHsand this seemed to work really well (3-5-2-1) BUT still playing players out of position to acomodate JG
BUT as soon as Naylor moved forward this was all lost and we were again clueless at the back
So Cooks wants to play high line therefore we need players who can play this starting with the key position of CH and captain
I do like a bet on us to win the league but I wouldn’t touch us at 5/2 for all the reasons above
I really want to be eating ‘humble pie’ on this but sadly i dont think I will
“When was the last time you did something for the first time”

The problem we have is that teams don’t play it in the air- we rarely lose out to a high ball being out of position
Every time it’s Grines out of position ( on the floor)creating havoc along the back line as well as the keeper
We have had Palmer (national league title winner) , Williams ( play offs Solihull) and none of them can play with Grimes
We even have Maguire who apparently covers really well for Grimes and makes him a better player
It’s time to address the real problem IMO Cooks experiment with Grimes should be over and at least try a combo of Palmer, Maguire,Williams ideally alongside Naylor

A failure to address this problem will seriously hinder our promotion chances

Jesus wept, I've stopped reading the thread here, there's a number of posts I could have quoted bur the generL consensus of the thread seems to surround a player that played every minute of every game last season in a team that finished with 84 points and were 3 minutes away from returning to the Football League.

I'm not saying he's perfect and some of the issues highlighted are prefectly valid but that's why he's playing for a 5th tier non league team.

Comparisons with Evatt, who played Premier League football at a point in his career are absolutely ridiculous!

All this after a defeat to a side 2 tiers above us. I dread to think what the reaction will be if we don't finish top having won all 46 games as the dramatic overreaction to this game is crazy!

See Rovers twitter for their two goals. Deja vu all over again. To paraphrase Danny Webb.

At the mercy of away clubs sending us footage to put out.

There’s some fan footage here of quite a bit of action- unfortunately the vlogger missed the beginning of the two moves that brought their goals - suffice to say they were passes at the half way line to the forward on our defender’s shoulder.

https://www.youtube....h?v=5TWC-LhAxEg

The (again unofficial) footage I’d seen that included the full build up to both of their goals seems to have disappeared

I might have had a hand in this as I made a formal complaint through the streaming company and said that my poor experience was mirrored by other supporters who had expressed frustration during most of the first half. I said that I would be passing on their feedback to others and I had an email reply a few minutes ago confirming a £5 refund. Might be splitting hairs as they obviously think the second half was worth £5 but there you go.If anyone paid and doesn't get a refund, email [email protected] and request one.

No the analysts film every match. We do sometimes have to use their footage for highlights when the away team doesn't provide us with their footage or doesn't even film it eg Accrington.
