Roy currently has his eye on Martin Butler and Jamie Cuerton although Cuerton looks doubtful due to wage demands unfortunatly and he`s just the kind of player we need. I`m not very excited about Martin Butler though he scored 7 for Rotherham last season and Roy knows him from his Cambridge days.
My opinion dig deep and bring in Cuerton, he scored 13 last season for a poor Swindon team and could be the striker we`re looking for.

I'm sure Roy will be delighted at your suggestion. Exactly how much are you wanting to put in, TM?

I'd love Cureton at town...he bagged 2 against us (i think) for Swindle Town and did well despite them going down. He will doubtlessly have a big wage demand but it might be worth risking a bit and it will encourage people to buy season tickets.

Butler is a proven striker who has commanded big transfer fees in the past, he isn't too old and he can turn his career around at Chesterfield.

Plus Roy tried to sign Butler on loan during the transfer window but Rotherham turned him down...surely he will be making him an offer now!

You could sort of tell that Roy had Butler in his thoughts when he was quizzed about him on the radio...he spoke of bringing him to Cambridge and being aware of Butler's attributes so Roy will be signing a player he knows all about.

Remember Butler was signed by Rotherham during their Championship days when common sense had deserted them in terms of wages paid. I know he won't be offered anything like the same to stay at Millmoor, but he'll doubtless be looking to maximise his income at the age of 31. Cureton's a proven goalscorer and will definitely have better offers than we are in a position to make.

Perhaps Roy will gamble by offering longer contracts than other clubs are prepared to like he did with both the Chief and Paul Hall...

Personally if he's anywhere near fit I'd prefer Butler of the two, more the kind of player we need than Cureton. A bit more strength about him

I would'nt mind Cureton here but Butler would be another uninspiring signing imo.

Another name to conjure with Buxtons Ben Burgess looks like he may be available probably on loan from Hull for the start of the season as he tries to rebuild his fitness and career after injury Bradford are allegedly interested in him

Burgess is a big target man he bagged over 20 goals for Brentford a few years ago...remember him playing in reserve games at Saltergate for another team a couple of years back, thought he looked a shadow of his former self yet he would be a decent cheap option.
