I forgot one or two in my previous post, namely
Jackie Milburn (Newcastle/England)
George Robledo (Barnsley/Chile - I think it was Chile)
Wilf Mannion Boro'/England)
George Hardwicke (Boro'/England).
Walter Gannon (Wednesday/Eire)
I'm not absolutely sure that both Mannion and Hardwicke played for 'Boro in the FA Cup tie in 1950, but have assumed so in selecting my team. Is it possible that you could, withut too much trouble, check this for me please? Anyway, here goes:
Swift (England) goal
Ramsey (England) RB
Hardwicke (England) LB
Blanchflower (N.I.) RHB
Charles (Wales) CH
Gannon (Eire) LHB
Matthews (England) OR
Revie (England) IR
Milburn (England) CF
Mannion (England) IL
Liddell (Scotland) OL
Subs: Franklin (England); Bentley (England); Quixall (England) Sewell (England); Robledo (Chile);
Dougan (N.I.)
Looking at it, the pity is that many of the names may well mean little to our younger supporters, although Matthews needs no introduction; John Charles was world class by any standard - and worshipped in Italy; Mannion is regarded as one of, if not the, best England inside forwards; Billy Liddell was, not long ago, voted Liverpool's best ever player; Swift was the standard by which goalkeepers were compared; and Blanchflower captained Spurs in their 'Double' year 1960/61. And I think Alf Ramsey speaks for himself!
If I've missed anyone, I'll come back later.

Good stuff. Funnily enough, I had a look at the Boro team for that the other week, and Mannion didn't play. There was a suggestion that Boro had taken the tie lightly by leaving him out.

Please edit as you see fit. I've put a couple on there as a start. Please note that I cut and paste the list from the united nations list and it added entry dates and I can't be bothered to remove all of them so I think I got to Iraq and then got fed up.
Let me know if theres any problems.
Nice choice for the English chap!

Shaun Goater is a Bermuda international but, unless I'm being dense, that place doesn't appear as a country. Should we add places that aren't "official" countries, or don't exist anymore (almost the entire Saarland "national side" played here during the Festival of Britain) and should we have token entries for England, Scotland, Wales, NI, Channel Islands etc??

Cape Verde - Ha ha did you think we would get that one?
Moldova
Cyprus
New Zealand
Nigeria
Uruguay
Denmark
Jamaica
Greece
Italy
USA
Morocco
Sierra Leone?
Turkey?
Some are interesting extyras for countries we already have someone for. The ones with a ? are suggestions that need clarification.
Whilst checking the spelling on the Moldovan guy I actually found a clip of him scoring at the kop end and have included the link. Tasty goal it was to.

I got the list of countries from a site showing all current members of the united nations (maybe I should have picked members of FIFA instead?). I cant see why we cant add points of interest like the ones you state, its not as if its an official document. If you want to split up the UK then that's cool bananas by me.

I once saw Besty pick the ball up from a punt by Stepney just inside Uniteds half he then set off on a mazy run beating many players before unleashing a shot from the right edge of the penalty area it hit the far upright and nestled into SHEFFIELD UNITED'S net to make it 2 - 0
