Hang on a second. You accuse me of spouting the usual left wing rhetoric and then tell me that living in peace (which is what I called for in the trans "debate") is impossible because the left won't allow it. So am I a leftie or am I not? And I ask again, what's your objection - if you have one - to banning hate speech aimed at stirring up hatred of groups and individuals over things that aren't their fault, like their colour or sexuality? I'm not holding my breath that you'll respond to the challenge, mind.
Had you honestly read my previous post, you'd be aware that I voted in the last Scottish General Election, which I was able to do because I lived there. The Scottish government, therefore, was representing me, especially since I voted both SNP and Green.
As the Earl of Chesterfield says, Humza brought about his own downfall by unilaterally sacking Partick Harvie and Lorna Slater from the government. Having said that, the same media outlets that were shouting for him to sack the Greens immediately went for the jugular when he did precisely what they had been urging him to do. Alex Salmond's mob - in the main- couldn't give two hoots about the gender bill; they simply oppose, as a reflex action, anything proposed by the SNP. Salmond is, by his own admission "no angel." His own barrister called him a sexist and another word - too rude to be allowed on Bob's Board - that has 8 letters and begins with A. While he was acquitted on all but one of the charges of sexual assault brought against him, the other resulted in a "not proven" verdict, which is understood by Scots to mean "we think you did it but it's not been proved, so go away and don't do it again." In short, the suggestion that he is a supporter of women's rights is baloney. Like his bitter opponent but very similarly bumptious character George Galloway, he spent his time in the wilderness hosting a show on the propaganda channel Russia Today, and we all know what a haven for human rights Putin's Russia is, don't we?
Deflecting all opposition to your own - forthrightly expressed - opinions by calling it left wing bias is a cop-out, by the way. Personally, I'm more interested in ethics than politics, and I find your attitude ethically reprehensible, not because I'm a Stalinist or a fan of Pol Pot but because your natural instinct seems to be to attack anybody who shows compassion for minorities. It would be nice if you expressed a kind word for somebody every now and then; I really wish you would.
I doubt your an extreme leftie, the ones who spout abuse and bile and the usual accusations at anyone who doesn’t confirm the their bigoted agenda, but then I don’t know.
Like I said I in my previous post if you live in Scotland now then it obviously effects you, but if you don’t then your just sticking your nose in like everyone else.
So what’s hate speech and what’s free speech, who decides? Id say each individual has different opinions and once again I dare say that those on the left will happily throw about the usual accusations at those who disagree. And of course there’s no reason that there shouldn’t be proper laws for hate speech, the problem is how it can be reported , who reports it, the fact the police have to investigate every accusation, it can be reported for something you say in your own home. I thought the basis of that was the problem which I thought I said in my initial post on the subject.
I don’t see me as deflecting from my views I post what I think, btw I’m not sure what I’ve posted, although some my find my options disagreeable, thats reprehensible, but you’re welcome to your opinion.
Anyway I show compassion for those that I think deserve it in my opinion, and that includes all walks of life, all cultures and minorities. Or do you now decide who we must show compassion for? Don’t base your knowledge of me on a few posts on a Football League..that felt good…message board., ok a lot of posts! Don’t concern yourself too much with it, I post on here on various subjects but I’m really not fussed what people think, just like I’m sure you’re really not fussed with me or my view of others.
