Ever since 2002 this event is getting worse and worse.

Prior to that it was nothing more than a harmless farce, since then it’s slowly becoming more right wing and has such a strong political agenda I say we should do away with this charade.

Nearly all WW2 vets are dead now anyway and the whole event is turning into nothing more than a national security risk.

I’m seriously suggesting we should announce this years event as being the final one and put this daft farce to bed once and for all.

Discuss.

I agree with a lot you say normally but this is completely wrong.
The men and women of this country who fought to maintain our freedoms should be remembered forever.
No matter what whichever group tries to do to disrupt it we simply cannot stop paying our respects.
Without their bravery we may well not be posting on Bob’s Board today.

Been a couple of other wars since WW2, many other members of the armed forces have died serving their country since then, it's not only WW2 vets that are missed/remembered, show some respect for just 1 day at least...

Lest they forget…

Provocative and, to me completely wrong. I used to think WW2 was ancient history. But the end of the war to me being born was 25 years. I used to think 25 years was an age…but now 25 years ago feels like yesterday.

The millions of conscripted soldiers who died for a cause to protect our country, our freedom, our right to govern ourselves and to protect our people should never be forgotten. Never.

Did they willingly die? I’m sure everyone who did didn’t either want to or assume they would. But they did die and we should remember them.

No one asks you to attend a service, wear a poppy because you have a right to choose, because you are free to. No one asks you observe a minutes silence. Again you have the free will and choice to or not to.

There are rights and wrongs of war. But we can’t change our past but we should honour and thank the ones who gave their lives not so long ago.

I was in Ashfield over the weekend and happened to see right wing working class hero (30p) Lee Anderson opening sone poppy display and paying a completely insincere tribute to ‘our brave boys’ lol (I know, insert cringe) and the crowd that gathered made it look far more like a right wing hate rally than an actually WW2 tribute, it was appalling, right wing politicians are just using fallen servicemen as a pawns to win votes and it’s only the uneducated idiots (Spiritetool, Quaker, etc) that dont realise this.

No, sorry lads, nothings gonna convince me that this complete loada bollux has turned completely right wing and political, the writing was on the wall as soon as evil war criminal Blair invaded the Middle East and it’s getting worse and worse since, it wouldn’t surprise me if the whole event ends up sparking a civil war at some in the future and the best way to deal with it it to put a lid on it and mourn the dead in our own privacy

The Club will mark Remembrance Day this year on Friday and Saturday.

Our Armistice Ceremony in the Memorial Garden will take place at 1.30pm, players and management will attend. Before the ceremony we will unveil two new names for the War Memorial with the Royal Engineers in attendance as one was an engineer. The Royal Lancers expect to be on parade. Unexpectedly we have only this week discovered that another contracted player from the 1930s died in a Japanese POW camp.

The Friday event will be supported by the pupils from New Whittington Primary School with parts of it signed. All staff, supporters and people from the local community are welcome to attend.

At the Barnsley match both teams, as well as the Royal Lancers, will lay wreaths before a minutes’ silence. The Lancers and local veterans will parade before the game. There will be a collection on behalf of the Royal British Legion.

We are not stopping this tribute any time soon!

I didn’t invade the Middle East and create this mess, your pal Blair did.

You can pay as much homage to fallen soldiers as you like nobody can deny this event has turned into a national security risk.

While the armed forces sit on their backsides like disgruntled keyboard warriors the citizens of the UK are now reliant upon football hooligans guarding cenotaphs up and down the uk.

If this event gets any more ridiculous it’s gonna end up on the comedy channel, nobodies even remembering the dead any more, they’re just using the event to create mayhem and suit their own political agendas, I’m merely pointing this out, having a pop at me is the equivalent of shooting the messenger, this event is nothing like what it was and even it’s most ardent fans are likely to agree with it, and let’s face it, it would save the country a fortune in police, security, roads shutting, cleaning up, etc if it got disbanded all together, maybe announce one more big event for next year and put the thing to bed for good.

Maybe gerbil would like to speak to the lancers after the game and express his opinions on armistice day and his view on servicemen.

We could sell tickets to the event.
A new hope.

So repeat it to those you insult?

Go repeat it to the lancers after the game. Ask the club to arrange a meet with these servicemen after the game? I’m sure they’d be happy to grant you an audience. Being men who have a code of honour, I’m sure your safety n would be assured. You can report back on what they have to say about your “opinions”

See if you you have balls the size of your gob, or balls the size of a peanut.

My bet is on an unusually small peanut. If they’ve actually dropped.

Would I like to meet the Lancers?

A group of aggressive middle aged men wearing fancy dress.

No but thanks for the offer.

I think the hate marches should be banned, if it is indeed supposed to be peaceful then why don’t they just pop on a poppy and observe the silence and respect the country that gave them refuge and the chance of a better life

They should also ban the Nottinghill Carnival while they’re at it

Of course not all those who are pro Palestine are Islamic terrorists but all Islamic terrorists will be pro Palestine

Or young men in uniform employed on a small wage who would go in to conflict to protect the state for the likes of you. They must feel so valued by the likes of you.

You’re a fine example of take and give nothing back. Pathetic.

Don’t let him wind you up. He’s a coward and a wind up merchant. He’d probably soil himself in battle.

He really is a no-mark with no life experience.
