23/24 V 22/23 Comparison

I found it really useful to see how we were comparing, and to keep things in perspective, so I figured I’d set this one up for this season.
First of all, we’ll need to replace those teams that left the league with those who have joined, for comparative purposes. So:
Wrexham are replaced with Hartlepool
Notts are replaced with Rochdale
Maidstone are replaced with Ebbsfleet
Scunthorpe are replaced with AFC Fylde
Yeovil are replaced with Kidderminster
Torquay are replaced with Oxford City
Results so far:
Dorking (H): W | W = Evens
Fylde (A): W | W = Evens
Oxford (A): W | W = Evens
Oldham (H): L | D = +1
Altrincham (A): W | L = -2
Hartlepool (H): W | W = -2
Aldershot (A): D | W = Evens
Dagenham (H): L | W = +3
So after 8 games, we’re currently 3pts up on the comparatives of last year. If we match all remaining results, we’ll finish on 87pts.
Alternatively, current pts per game = 2.375. Continue at this rate and we finish on 109pts.
Next up, Ebbsfleet. No chance to gain in this one, due to a last minute Oldaker thunderblaster against Maidstone last year.
I’ll try to keep this updated as we go. COYB.

I have been doing it this season but was reluctant to post as our season started going down the pan when I did last year.
Some other notable comparisons.. after 8 games last season we were top with 20 points having Won 6 and drawn 2, so one point less this season. 17 goals scored and 8 conceded (identical to Barnet!)
Wrexham were on 19 points after 8 games, having Won 6, drawn 1 and been beaten by us

Oh no, I’ve just jinxed us haven’t I… well I enjoyed the one you did last year so I’d say continue if you’re happy to.

Hmmm. Boredom Wood and Oldham already effectively 13 pts behind us.
I wonder of B/W are suffering from their traditional approach to points gathering through time wasting being destroyed by the new rules?

It's agent Whelan, he's played all 8 games and isn't playing to their usual game plan of 💩housery

Fantastic, thanks Spireite93. Over 2.4pts per game - what a brilliant start.
It’ll be a tough game tonight but here’s to keeping at +3.

3 teams who many thought would be at the very least play off chasing, Oldham, York and Southend, other problems there of course, are all struggling in the bottom 5 at present.

Massive cliche but it absolutely is in our own hands
As it stands we're on course for 87 points, just purely matching the results from last season and I don't see anyone getting above that this season
Of course I might be wrong and the likes of Solihull, Woking, Barnet, Hartlepool and Rochdale could reach it but of those 3 mentioned, York and Oldham would need to lose less than about 7 games here on in to get anywhere close to the amount of points we should be accruing over the season

Am I missing something here? We beat Alty last year so that should be minus 3 as we lost the latest fixture. Also why are we minus 2 against Hartlepool when we won this year and didnt play last year?? Happy to be pointed in the right direction.
Edit: Ok I see that you have used Hartleppol to replace Wrexham, we beat them at home so I make that Evens?

Yes that’s right, Joe - 3pts up on the comparisons of last season.
I was also looking at some XG stats yesterday and it’s quite unbelievable what we’re currently hitting… if that continues we’ll be due a thumping win soon.

Agree. Personally don’t even think we’re at our best yet. There’s an opposition side going to be end of a 6-7 nil stonking soon I reckon.
Can see young Mr Berry amongst the goals soon.
