Just wondering what sort of reception Jack will get on his return on Saturday. Low key or a rousing rendition of the Jack Lester song or something in between. Hopefully he acknowledges our appreciation, Any thoughts?

We should sing from the rooftops. Put into an unenviable position by the last regime. We need to show jack how much he is loved here...

Very much this. I think he's been worried about how he would be received coming back here. I think Tuesday was his 1st time back here since he left. I managed to get to speak to him on Tuesday and said he was and always will be a legend at Chesterfield and that the previous regime basically hung him out to dry. I think some other former players had been trying to tell him this as well. I really hope everyone sings for him on Saturday.

I bumped into Jack at Tramlines music festival in Sheffield last year, I introduced myself as a Chesterfield fan and asked him when he was coming back as he was still held in high regard, he appeared to appreciate that and was happy to pose for a photo together. I regret not chatting for longer but it felt rude as I'd already interrupted him talking to his mates

I hope and expect he'll get a decent reception

He has incidentally been back with the Blades U23's but lets not go there Posted Image

Jack's been brought up the correct way. He has the correct values and he knows what matters so I was a little disappointed that he took the job here under the circumstances because he should have known better. To stand any chance of succeeding then your environment has to be correct and ours clearly wasn't. In reality, he was on a hiding to nothing from the off.

That said, I don't hold any of that against him. He was a winner on the pitch and remains one of football's good guys off it. He deserves the recognition because he served our club extremely well and helped deliver some memorable occasions for us.

Welcome home, Jack.

Spot on, Marcia.

fair post, i recall his first interview as manager saying that he'd not applied on previous ocassions but at the time he did he felt ready and sometimes you go with your gut feeling, he'd been doing well in his role at forest so obviously felt a sense of confidence and belief that he could do it, i agree that it was the wrong time for him.

i will forever welcome him back, favourite player of all time.

I like the sentiment but this is the sort of thing you do when someone has passed away. I agree to show him plenty of love though!

Same, I was actually going to put him in the banner with John and Ernie but I thought that'd be a bit weird with him still being alive and the other two obviously not.

It makes me a little sad to think that's what he might have thought.

OH DEAR CORRECT VALUES - THIS IS FOOTBALL WHERE IN THE MAIN EVERYONE TRIES TO GET AN ADVANTAGE BY BASICALLY CHEATING AND PRESSURING REFS.

I-REALLY ENJOYED JACK’S SKILL IN THE AREA TWISTING AND TURNING AND PUTTING DEFENDERS ON THEIR ARIS. HE WAS A QUALITY FINISHER WITH BOTH FEET AND THOSE PENALTIES HE DREW WERE ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVEABLE. THE REFS/OPPOSITION PLAYERS KNEW HE WOULD GO DOWN EASY BUT JACK IN THE MAIN ALWAYS GOT THAT DECISION.

A TRUE LEGEND FOR US AND LOYAL WHEN YOU HEAR TONY STEWART CONFIRMING THEY TRIED TO SIGN HIM.

ANYWAY BLUE THEY ARE WARM MEMORIES FOR US ALL AND ANY FANS WHO DIDN’T GET TO WITNESS JACK MISSED A TREAT.

That said, I don't hold any of that against him. He was a winner on the pitch and remains one of football's good guys off it. He deserves the recognition because he served our club extremely well and helped deliver some memorable occasions for us.

Welcome home, Jack.

Spot on, Marcia.

God I hate this league.
