Probably couldn't cut it at L2 level now but should be a decent signing for us.

"It's a dream come true" says Ryan, hmmm, a bit of bottom licking me thinks. As long as he does the business on the pitch I'm happy.
Who's that tw*t in cowboy hat? Haslam! Haslam!

FORMER Stags wingman Ryan Williams has finally sealed his return to Field Mill after successfully completing a trial at Field Mill this week.

The 30-year-old was released by BSP crisis club Weymouth at the start of the week and has been at Mansfield ever since.

He has signed an 18-month deal and goes straight into the squad for the Stags' match at Rushden on Saturday - a squad without defender Scott Garner, wingman Louis Briscoe and possibly striker Rob Duffy.

"I wanted to have a look at Ryan, we have seen he has great quality crossing a ball," said boss David Holdsworth.

"He is a Mansfield boy who certainly has lots of quality and ability. He can contribute this season and next."

Williams started his football career at the Stags as a junior, playing in 29 matches in two years from 1995-97. The midfielder left the Mill in a £70,000 move to Tranmere and also commanded fees of £85,000 and £150,000 in transfers to Chesterfield and Hull City.

In more recent seasons he has been in the BSP with Forest Green, Aldershot and then Weymouth.

Williams said: "It's good to be home. I've always said that I wanted to return to Mansfield and it has come true."

Why was Mclean at Grays?
Why was George Boyd at Stevenage?
Why was Craig Mackail Smith at Dagenham?

It's a bit vague and unfair classing every player in the BSP as awful, there's some decent players down here ya know! Not as many as L2 but a fair few with decent quality, I just hope Williams is one of them.

Bit different. They were on the way up. Williams is on the way down.

been a lot better this season when I've seen him, but still not brillient and certainly not as good as Hall - and nowhere near as good as the deluded berts on here think - he's gone from a poor division 4 defender to a half decent/average one

forms a good parnership with Hall mind

Even you know he's better than "average" for league 2, mate. I've spoken to you about this recently. You don't rate him. And you have your reasons. To some extent he was cack that season i bet he knows this too. But for me he's our best player this season (as we have ignored Lester as a football team for best part)...and better than Hall.

Heard Hall has attracted some interest as well. Both need signing on extensions.

if he was better than average we wouldn't be languishing in mid table!

there has been the fair share of calamity defending from Downes this season, but I will grant you, a lot less than last season

and back to Williams - useless!

Oh for the bitter and twisted who are only upset because he left for a bigger club on a fee.

Agree 100% on your comments re:Downes - lacks concentration and always a cock-up around the corner.
