Another Achilles rupture according to the Derbyshire Times. Noticed Weston limped off pointing at his heel.
I wouldn’t be surprised - when does the window close?
ACL not Achilles.

The initial report in the link said ruptured Achilles and he still hasn’t changed his actual post.
It looked like a knee injury at the time

Has there been too much strain placed on him with all the games he's played?

I think the number of games we are having to play due to COVID delays must have an effect on players and quite probably has contributed to a few injuries. Whether it was this or plain bad luck for Asante I guess we will never know but it couldn't have come at a worse time!
If he's going to be out for the full 9 months reported that's a fair chunk of next season too so we need a quality replacement sharpish but do we have the budget left to get one?
Injuries really have jinxed us this season!!!

Come on you’ve had it explained often enough, there is no such thing as bad luck when it comes to injuries😂😂
We certainly appear to be jinxed over the last 4/5 seasons

Eyup Neil,
Hope your keeping well mate. Yes I'm sure Denton, Hollis, Asante and Weston are all sat at home thinking bad luck didn't feature!
That's the main spine of the team gone. I think we could have coped with it if Yussuf and Diagana had shown any signs of scoring as Asante definitely needed support and resting for the odd game but unfortunately they haven't....and Rowe obviously recognised that by signing Mitchell but is that enough?
Not for me I hope we push the boat out and bring in another even if it's loan till the end of the season. It would be a real shame to see all the good work unravel in the last few games due to injuries in fact it would be bad luck!

If. It had been Achilles I’d have said possibly/probably but with ACL - what was the mechanics of the injury? Was he tackled?

I think Ernie raises a valid point. Whether prompted or otherwise we have had a number of newly appointed managers that have commented on our injury record and suggested that this will improve under their methods and it never appears to. So if managers know our injury record is an issue and they know how to improve it, why does it not improve?

That’s it in a nutshelll- the million dollar question!
Poor coaching? Poor conditioning? Poor facilities? Wrong methods of training for the individual players? Lack of individual bespoke S&C work? Poor rehab?
Could be a number of things!
Town aren’t unique in this of course and a lot of bigger better clubs have the same.
Professional players are (should be) highly conditioned athletes and have to be treated as such- this means - nutritional support, monitoring, mentoring, tailored training etc etc.
Football is behind quite a few sports in this respect still sadly.

It looked a fairly innocuous tackle to me with a bit of an awkward fall at the end of it

You were only a capital letter away from typing a proper sentence.
I’ve cashed out my bets. Town without Asante are a vastly inferior proposition to Town without him, unfortunately.
