For the league were in were gonna cause more problems than were gonna get. Playoffs at least.
I agree with the owners comment though.
You say that about potential MOTD comments, but then put ‘For the league were in were gonna cause more problems than were gonna get. Playoffs at least’ - which sounds exactly like a MOTD comment.

Looked very swish in your pink shirt in the lounges David.
My take..
Thought were looked alright, plenty of energy and commitment which was great. Some of the tackles flying in were probably not the ones you'd expect in a PSF game but gave the game a bit more of an edge.
Nelson is a unit, he can't kick it or run but he was solid. We will struggle against pace I fear. Evans looks a player to be, thought he was good. Weston, Carter and JBW further forward all looked good to me, JBW probs our best player in the first half and deserved his goal. Hines looked a different player, really was impressed by how far he looks to have come on. hope he keeps that up. Confident having seen Ugwu for the first time he will score goal and create problems too.
Shaw ran around a lot when he came on, showed a couple of nice touches but it will be a big step up for him so have to see how that progresses.
New keeper looked solid enough though not really tested by what I thought was quite a poor Wigan side.
Final point - feel for those in West Stand Block 3 this season, sat there last night and Allen was constantly urging everyone to get off their seats and get behind the team, clap the players off etc. Watch your flasks and blankets everyone!! He looks a character and was very entertaining and will enjoy it if he get the ground buzzing and we know it can be a good atmosphere and he will want nothing less.

JBW....well....he seems to have put 2 stones on...but he was a real menace, and despite looking unfit he also put himself about and showed some real heart. As someone else said, lose some weight and we have the guy who destroyed Mansfield away back in the team.
As for the others, Ugwu will be a real handful, and Weston looked a good battler. The 2 centre half’s looked like a pair of Sunday league thugs, but that’s what we’re gonna need so no worries there.
Overall, a good TEAM performance against a strong but surprisingly poor Wigan side. MA very entertaining and played to the crowd all 90 mins.
Enjoyed it and better than I feared.

Started with a '3' then 2nd half took Nelson off and went 4 at the back.Overall looked ok,but don't read too much into friendlies.Never do.One comment,MA is a striker short,if Mcalinden has gone away.Ugwu,Shaw and then what...Rawson?We need another striker so get the takeover sorted!!

Amantchi? Is he nearly cooked yet?

He spent a lot of time in the LB position as JBW went forward but wasn't uncomfortable there- he played well, overall.
I was struggling to grasp the formation we started with- if it was a 5-3-2, Barry was not getting forward as much as JBW was.

Cheers. Don't like sound of back 3 especially when none have pace

One encouraging thing about that friendly us that our tackling and commitment was matched by Wigan, at least up to the equaliser after which all the subs were made. That game looked like it could have been a league fixture.
There is a lack of forwards and width but it seems that MA was after two forwards from what he ws saying about Mcalinden and the loanee. Why the takeover should've blocked that doesn't say much for the prospective new owners, but rumours were it was that situation is being resolved today.

I thought we were very narrow sometimes, and I think it was their number 10 on the right wing was alone unmarked for lots of time. If he had got someone to pass to him he could have crossed into our penalty box almost unchallenged.

Yep it’s very nice. Bought some from the brewery when Tommy was down there signing bottles. Drunk them all but the signed bottle has pride of place on display.

Shame they didn't have it on in both lounges last night. They were bringing it through to order, but they ran out before the end.
Perfect beer for the weather, and I really hope BB keep it in their range, either under the original name or rebadged.

Wannabe pundits over analyse. We are non league and to think that we look good for the league were in is a bold enough statement but to pick bones out of positions is just over analysing.
