Come on, Jon.

The 'player wanted to go' line got stale a long, long time ago and we didn't even offer arguably our most important performer a new deal at all.

I thought the general consensus was he was offered a deal that would have made him our highest paid player ever and turned it down during the previous summer and from there we were onto a loser. Maybe we should have sold him in the summer but there were no sensible offers then come January it's flog him or lose him for nothing in the summer.

'BB' members have a choice what to believe, my friend.

What might be deemed this 'official' version, as peddled by Chris Turner at the time, or that whilst Sam was prepared to discuss an extension, as long as it placed him on a par with our then highest earner and included a release clause should a certain sum be offered, none was ever tabled. As peddled by a source pretty close to the player at the time.

Let's also remember the exits didn't stop with our most talented squad members, either. We've since witnessed the departure of far more modest performers to far more modest clubs.

I don't think the holiday was the questionable part, moreover that he couldn't do deals because of it!

Especially now all mobile roaming charges have been abolished for the whole of the EU (unless he's gone further, obviously).
