'Deepthroat' tells me the Blunts are thinking of taking what's been described as a 'punt' on Ched Evans. They believe he's available on the cheap and if they can get him back to anything like his best he'll be an asset.

They're also interested in Sam Morsy.

The other potential move mentioned was Donal McDermott back to Town. Apparently he's out of Hill's plans at Rochdale due to an alleged attitude problem and we've made an initial approach.

As always this is merely gossip so treat it as such.

I wouldn't mind Donal back, he's looked alright when playing for Dale against us.

Not sure about stead. 34 yr old . Not really the physical presence we need up front.

Still managed 14 goals per season in his two years at a pee poor Notts County.

However at 34 years old not a lot of mileage left in him.

Whitehead at Huddersfield is 35 but if came for a year he'd sort out our midfield.

Like I've said numerous times there'll be plenty willing to offer £300k for a punt.

I suspect anyone taking a punt will be offering substantially less than £300K and we'll bite their hands off

I thought he was supposed to be on £150K a year and now possibly more after the 2nd year was activated. If by chance nobody comes in for him, we'll probably farm him out on loan like we did O'Shea.

It wouldn't be beyond imagination that we would do the same with Hird

Perhaps the Mcdermott rumour is another desperate attempt to flog a few more season tickets? Don't know why though has he's done nothing since his loan spell at town and still doesn't seem to have matured after all this time.I'd steer well clear.

I'll be pleased if we sign anyone who isn't simply dirt cheap on wages, as I think that must be the board's current plan. Even a journeyman or two would be an improvement on the recent penny-pinching signings of unproven loanees and ageing free agents.

Dean Whitehead has a massive face.
These go to eleven.

Why would anyone contemplate buying a ST due to signing him?!

Would be a good signing. He was with Fleetwood when they got promoted from League 2 with us a few years back.

Obviously mentioned for a reason as he's been in the rumour mill for a few weeks now.
