Was going but thinking twice about it know as Saunders said it would be youth team. He seems to have arranged a game with Owls tomorrow

The youth team are playing at Sheffield club tomorrow evening so it won't be the YT tonight. More likely to be a mixture of squad players and perhaps a trialist or two - iirc last time I went our team included a random Portuguese player and a Faroe Islands international!

No senior, no fringe players.

Saunders out.
Starting line up included seven 16 year olds.
It was certainly men against boys.
Having said that with better finishing it could have been a lot closer.

You were right, it was the YT. Their game at Sheffield Club tomorrow has apparently been cancelled to allow them to play it.
The game raises questions about fielding our youth team in friendlies against full strength senior non league teams, 16 year olds cannot compete physically against NPL players - but when they play non league youth teams, as they did earlier this week at Mickleover, they are far too strong. I suppose the answer is to play friendlies against other FL YTs or lesser non league sides like Staveley.
At least the YT came out of this week's friendlies on top - P2 W1 L1 F8 A7. Not dull.

Town starting line-up: Don't know.
Best Town performers: Don't know
Town goalscorer: No idea
There was obviously a bit of talent amongst the Town young'uns but it was literally men against boys, and a harsh psychological lesson which I hope did more good than harm.

Not worth a fiver really other than the fact it goes to a deserved cause.

Well, exactly. The fiver goes towards propping up Belper Town, who even in tier 8 on crowds of 200-300 at 9 quid a head need a group of local businessmen to put in cash to keep the club breaking even.

I know they've arranged the behind closed door game but it's a shame we couldn't put out a team of fringe players and the better youth players.
Both clubs might've benefited. Have a dozen fringe players haven't played much at all and probably won't get anywhere near the game on Saturday

I agree. I feel we have disrespected Belper here, and did the same last year. This is not how our club should treat our smaller neighbours.
We are normally better than this at suiting the team we put out to the opposition we are playing.
I hope we put this right next year, if they ever want to play us again - and the same goes for Sheffield club whose game tonight we have apparently cancelled - we messed them around last year too, sending the YT for what was scheduled to be a first XI game as we arranged, at the last minute, a game at the Alfs for the same night

A bit harsh. I would hope the arrangement is that CFC will at some point make sure they have a good pay day, but that the home club need to be flexible so that we can optimise our preparations for the new season.
